Cal Club Autocross Forums

In a never-before-seen event at K1 Speed in Irvine, Cal Club Autocross is putting on a Pro Solo Super Challenge bracket event for its members on Saturday, June 18 at 12 p.m. to determine who is the fastest karter!

Here’s how it works: you get 10 qualifying laps to set a fast time. We will then sort each person’s fastest time into a 32-person bracket (1 vs. 32, 2 vs. 31, etc). You will then drive six laps during each subsequent elimination round (first lap is to get you on track, the next four will be at speed, and one to exit). If you have a better time than your opponent, you move on to the next round until a winner is decided!

To sum up:
-Registration is open to the first 36 people
-Guaranteed 10 qualifying laps
-5 bracket rounds to determine a winner
-Guaranteed fun for one hour!
-Cost: $40 per person

We already have a dozen sign ups! If you're thinking about attending, please make sure to register before June 10 to secure your spot.

Only a few days remain to register for our second social event of the year! Note that you must register online to attend; no day-of registration will be allowed. If we do not have enough people by the cutoff date, we may have to cancel, so please spread the word!

As an added benefit, I challenge the other Teams to sign up for this as a bonus Team Challenge! Not sure if I can come up with a prize other that bragging rights, but that should be enough, right? Or maybe the team with the lowest score buys pizza at Anthony's place....... ;) Details to be announced.

The deadline to sign up has been extended to Monday! We need at least 30 people or else we'll have to cancel our rental of the track (but not to worry, we'll still meet and have fun racing!)

So we have 24 people instead of 30 right now. I can't speak for everyone, but I'd rather pay $50/person at 24 people to do the super challenge rather than cancel and do a regular arrive-and-drive type thing. Also means more potential laptime overall since there's less people in the same amount of time, as well.

I would go for that.
