Hi Rick,
For RT cars, what should we select in the "Class" and "PAX" fields on the registration page? Maybe it's late, but I don't yet see an option to select RTR, RTA, or RTF?

So I guess we're not combining all RT into one class?

Re: January 27th Event Registration Open
RTA, RTF, RTR are classes and are in the Class field. The "PAX" field is for your base class. So for instance Vincent would pick RTR in "Class" with BS in "PAX".Timothy Aing wrote:Hi Rick,

No decision has been made yet, but it will be easy to adjust retro actively if necessary.Vincent Wong wrote:So I guess we're not combining all RT into one class?

I'm not seeing the RT classes listed in the Class drop down menu. Am I just not looking hard enough?

Right. But would you rather have three regional jackets or one? You could always do what was done with E-Stock last season and find new people for your class.Vincent Wong wrote:But not RTA nor RTF. }:)Leonard Cachola wrote:Hope not. RTR is going to be big enough alone.

Direct emails to your club reps work best for these types of things, so they bring up in discussion.Kurt Rahn wrote:I think it's on the table. Seems premature to make any decision on this beyond saying we would consider it if participation justifies it. As I said, it would be very easy to combine them retro actively.Kurt Rahn wrote:I think it's on the table. So what you're saying is that there is no demand for a class with FWD and AWD stock cars on street tires.Kurt Rahn wrote: It's a lot easier to find crapbox ES Miatae than it is to find a competitive FWD or AWD car. }:)

Re: January 27th Event Registration Open
E-mail sent.Kurt Rahn wrote: There you have it! Start emailing/calling, my peeps!
My argument here is for those who haven't sent that e-mail yet or haven't heard the other side of the argument.
Forget competitive cars and move toward the 'fun' aspect for a message.
Judging from what you and Vincent are saying, it sounds to me that of all the front wheel drive and all wheel drive stock vehicles out on the road in the Los Angeles area (Civics, Corollas, MINIs, Yaris, Mazda3s and 2s, 20+ years of Subaru AWD vehicles, etc. etc.), that we, one of the largest SCCA regions in the country, can't get ten drivers to make two classes for the season. If you don't think it can happen at the local level, what makes you think it will happen at the National level?
RT classes are provisional classes that need the numbers to show this works. The whole point of these classes is to increase participation levels beyond the R-Compound stock classes. If, after making these classes, nobody shows up, then why should the SCCA keep them going beyond the provisional period?
I would like to use our local E-stock as an example (Yes, those who know history of this argument will see the irony here, but I digress): the class was DEAD until Ed joined and pushed for the gentleman's agreement that they run. Now, there are 5-7 drivers who regularly participate. This didn't happen overnight and took a lot of behind-the-scenes work by Ed.
We have yet to start the season, so of course we have only a few drivers in RTF or RTA. To jump in and combine the three classes without having run an event, much less an entire season, is premature, IMO. Give it a chance. If you REALLY believe in your argument for street tires in stock classes, then the drivers will show. But that also means you have to do some leg work as well to grow RTF and RTA.

Throw in Ken Lord and Jayson Woodruff and you have four drivers there, Vincent. I believe Ryan Young will be joining you as well. Sounds like you might have a class there.Tom Denham wrote:It won't be just you this year, I'll be making a run for the RTA jacket.Vincent Wong wrote:But not RTA nor RTF. }:)Leonard Cachola wrote:Hope not. Re: January 27th Event Registration Open
I think RTA has a much better chance than RTF at least in CSCC to meet the minimum size for a full class. As far as from a National perspective - I have no idea what is going to happen to RTF. I do think what Kurt is petitioning for is a combo RTF/RTA much like there is CPM locally. That seems to make local sense. If not why would Kurt or other orphaned drivers locally come out to every event.
I can have fun running intermittently because there is no incentive to get 12 events in because nothing is on the longterm line but when I have an interest in a year-long competition it is in my best interest to show up for all the events.
I also have no idea what the Club Reps will decide. Whatever happens I will be sure to have the supplemental rules published before the first event, but it might be just barely before.

I know it's early, but currently RTA = 3, RTF = 2, RTR = 1.

Re: January 27th Event Registration Open
RT classes are brand new for the season locally. We need to give them a chance to succeed or fail on their own merits. Combining them before the season has started is saying they are a failure before they've even started - and if you come into it with the idea that it will fail, then it already has. Wasn't that the whole argument against even having street tire stock classes in first place? While I understand the desire to prevent orphaned drivers, I feel we're making decisions for something that hasn't even been given a chance locally yet just to make sure one or two drivers don't feel left out of competition.Ken Lord wrote:I think RTA has a much better chance than RTF at least in CSCC to meet the minimum size for a full class.
