Re: Can't find a TORX tool ...

Most Torx sockets will come apart- just punch out the torx bit through the bottom. The bit is a hexagon where it is pressed into the socket, so you can put the bit in the link and use a wrench to turn it.

Re: Motorsports Event - Free Practice!

Real shame on the eccentric letting go ... after your months of work and anticipating finally getting to unleash your Nova Beast Bitch! Nice of you to have those other Nova's come out to the event. Gorgeous workmanship on those restored and mod'ed Chevy's. (I wish I had taken some photos of them!) ...

Re: 5/3/09 GRA Event Open for Registration

I have a couple newbie questions about this event. I may attend if I get my car prepped in time. I noticed the practice is full for Saturday- are there any practice sessions for Sunday? If I have to enter the competition to run, what class should I run? - I know Dave told me about a nostalgic type c...

Re: Motorsports Event - Free Practice!

Thanks to all involved in putting on the Z Motorsports event. It was nice meeting you all as well- what a great group! I had a good time despite my small difficulty (my license plate stayed true to its name!). I made a whole half lap! :D Ill be back for more soon. Thanks to Mako for helping me out t...

Re: Power Induced Oversteer

As others have mentioned ... what about a LSD ? I have a detroit locker- no limited slip, just locked or unlocked! Its a bit noisy- you will hear a clicking type noise when I go around corners. Every one of the changes I mentioned is an incremental improvement and one, by itself, is not a big deal....

Re: Power Induced Oversteer

The following are typical leaf spring live axle mods and do help: 1. Panhard bar - as long as possible and as adjustable as possible. 2. Staggered shocks. 3. Cambered housing. 4. Composite rear springs (Hyperco and others). 5. Boxed sliding shackles. And if you really want to make it work, get rid ...

Re: Power Induced Oversteer

I have a set of drag race wheels with drag radials (235-60-15), but the rear end feels like jello going through a corner with them. They dont work very well above 25 psi either. Early Novas are deceivingly small and light for "muscle" cars (3100lbs), although they were the compact economy ...

Re: Power Induced Oversteer

WOW this got interesting! :D I appreciate everyone's input. I cant run a bigger tire because these little Novas dont have room. I run a 245-45-17 now out back, and a 255 would be pushing it. I have a 1" front swaybar on the car (no rear), and a 1.125 bar in the garage so I could try that out. I...

Power Induced Oversteer

I have WAY too much oversteer when coming out of a late apex turn. I need to calm the rear end down somehow, but keep my rear tires and tire size (cant go bigger). I run a good street tire- Dunlop Direzza D1 Star Spec. I frequently go on long cruises and dont want to run an R compound tire. I am goi...

Re: April 25-26 Practice Event at El Toro

What type of wrenching? Typically we have plenty of time to adjust sway bars and shocks. Changing out springs would be dicey. Different hosts schedule practice days using various formulas. Some are You're Running if You're Not Working, others have three groups split into Run/Rest/Work, and repeat i...

Re: April 25-26 Practice Event at El Toro

I dont want this to be taken the wrong way, but I have a fresh setup that likely needs lots of tuning, and I am concerned about having to spend a lot of time helping work the course. How many runs can I expect to make at the average practice event? Is there ample time for me to do some wrenching bet...
