Re: That explains everything – ZERO suspension travel

My comment about flipping the mounts is based on not replacing the current bolts. I don't doubt that you could replace the bolts.

Re: That explains everything – ZERO suspension travel

Nice diagrams. I understand now. You're correct, you can't invert the mount or the four little bolts will eventually fail. Doh!!! I see that George had a much better understanding of the issues with the top mounts from the start. Kudos to George and others. You're options are: 1 - shorten the shocks...

The spring holds the weight of the car at each corner. The bolts will only see any significant weight if the shock bottoms out before the spring does. I'm not saying that the mounts are upside down, they just look like it because aftermarket Miata mounts tend to have a recessed design to gain compre...

Re: That explains everything – ZERO suspension travel

Isn't that top mount upside down? BTW, the weight of the car will not be on the four little bolts.

Re: That explains everything – ZERO suspension travel

Those shocks are seriously too long. I'm sure the shock re-builder will not forget that you also need the piston shortened by an equal amount when they shorten the body. Get some measurements of the Koni Sport and Race shocks to get a range of how much shorter your shocks should be.

Re: Miata NB Front Bearing Replacing

Replacing the knuckle/spindle is also straightforward. It's held on by three nuts/bolts. One of the possible sticky points is separating the ball joint from the upper knuckle. Use either a ball joint separator that you can borrow from Kragen for the safe method or the carefully hammer on reversed ca...
