I'm just going to drive around and let my natural instincts take me there. So if I'm late by a few hours, forgive me! :P

I know a lot of people are joking about about how to get in, but keep in mind that wandering around the area actually causes us issues with the powers we lease from. So, just to so I don't have to smooth any feathers with AMCI or explain to the Irvine PD that yeah, you're with us and we're really sorry, let's just all get on Trabuco and drive straight to the runway.

Last Sunday Kathy was running at El Toro. The entrance to the base is now on Trabuco. To get to the entrance take Sand Canyon to Trabuco and head East on Trabuco. When you get to the end of Trabuco you will see a K rail and possibly a Irvine Police person. It looks like you should turn right. At that point Kathy stopped and the Irvine Police person pointed to the gap in the K rail. Kathy then drove straight (passed the K rail) to the runway in her S2000. When I drove to the same location (the end of Trabuco) in an SUV the Irvine Police person told me to turn right (South toward the balloon). I told him I was going to the sports car event but he looked at the SUV and said "No, turn right." Then I told him I was supporting a participant and he let me continue passed the K rail to the runway.

Thanks for that explanation Doug. I wonder where they'll point a plumbing truck.

I put an "SCCA" sign on the opening to barriers. Then follow the cones and you're good.

Thanks Rick! I got lost dropping off my trailer there today  Good thing Anthony P was able to tell me where to go. Didn't even see the barrier opening we were supposed to go through since cones steered you to make a right and the barriers directly in front were plastered with "ROAD CLOSED" signs.
