Hello All!
I'm a newbie to Solo 2 (but enjoyed my first attempt!), and I'm slowly building a list of modifications for my car. The car in question is a 1969 Triumph Spitfire Mk3, with a largely stock engine and suspension/drivetrain.
On my list already are adjustable shocks, and other suspension upgrades. But my question is, should I have my oil pan fitted with baffles to prevent oil sloshing? I was speaking with my mechanic (who is a successful builder and Spitfire racer), and he suggested installing baffles to prevent the engine from starving out under left hand cornering. Another Triumph enthusiast and racer (Kas Kastner) thought it would be a good idea, but might not be necessary for an autocross. I've run in two events without it so far (my Triumph club convention autocross and the Solo 2 event in October). I'm entered in the January 17th-18th practice and solo, so I'll probably won't have to modification done before that.
Should I worry about it, or just go out and "run what I brung"?
Thank you all for your help! Happy New Year!
Cody C.

Re: Oil Pan Baffling Needed?
Generally speaking, it's more of a problem for road racers who are running on a track with long sweepers and sticky race tires.
If you are running street tires, it's probably a non issue in autocross. If you start running hoosiers or slicks, it might be worth the investment.
All that being said, I don't have a lot of Spitfire specific experience, so if it's a particular weak point of the Triumph, then it's cheap insurance.
