i thought the track was fun to watch.

glad to see there were no entry/exit problems with the pit, it certainly looked dangerous. Hopefully that's fixed next year, along with the bumpy road.

i was disappointed with how incredibly long the first SC session was. It could be argued that the race outcome was a direct result of the 1st SC period, where the order got completely reshuffled, people penalized, etc. I think a quicker deployment of a lift and more efficient cleanup crew is definitely feasible.

Mako Koiwai wrote:What did you guys think of the course? Lots of redundant "features" but not as bad as some street circuits. I like the way we're seeing aggressive forced passing. Are the cars not so sensitive to following another car any more and thus losing front down force. Love the shot of the one car understeering into the barriers towards the end of the race. How often have we experienced that ourselves. How come he didn't just let up a bit on the brakes, straighten the steering and then re-apply ... like we do! Yeah, I know ... not much room, but he should have seen it coming. IMO ... too much light! Forget the Night aspect of the race. Like they said, Japan will be the next night race ... next year? Makes it's much better for TV audiences back in Europe ... and probably not a bad thing for local live viewing plus local TV. And a bit cooler in those tropical locations.
Heidfeld out-braked someone to pull off a pass, but he pulled along side, so he had clean air.

If the brakes are locked up, the cars will understeer. With so many cars experiencing brake fade at the end of the race, it's surprising more didn't hit the barriers.

If you think it was too bright, look at the still photos. It wasn't that bright.

Bernie says he wants Japan to be a night race. We'll see if that really happens.

How's bout a 2GW electromagnet to remove spent cars from the track? That oughta be pretty speedy.

Is there enough magnetic material in an F1 car to pickup?

Crankshaft, axles, a few other tidbits. That's why you need so much juice.

Just watched the race last night. Beautiful looking on TV. Agreed with Bob B. Penalize Heidfeld for blocking Rubens?? C'mon give me an f'ing break! He was pulling into the pits. Ferrari oh Ferrari oh Ferrari. When are you gonna get your act together in terms of refueling? I knew the Safety Car period would be long because there are no "cranes" to get these cars out. That won the race for Fernando but good for him. Ironically it was his teammate Nelson Piquet who crashed into the wall that caused the SC period.

Results:
  • 1. Fernando Alonso - Renault
  • 2. Nico Rosberg - Williams Toyota
  • 3. Lewis Hamilton - McLaren Mercedes
I'll update the points tonight.

I found the penalty for fuel hose incident odd, a drive-thru, while those who refueled while the pits were closed got a 10 second stop and go. It would seem the safety issue of the fuel hose would dictate a stiffer penalty. Then again, Massa sat for about 30-45 seconds waiting for the mechanics to get the hose out.

And, Kimi bins his car.

2 exact same incidents of unsafe release by Ferrari on Massa's car onto Sutil's car.

FIA penalty:

at Valencia - $10k fine - Massa was leading. so fine was appropriate.
at Singapore - drive through penalty - Massa was in 16th place (last place) when he received the penalty.

see a trend here ?

Most definitely........and here's why:

AAA = FIA. AAA = Automobile Association of America. FIA is the equivalent, except only for cars made in Maranello (aka Ferraris). I have AAA so maybe I should get a Ferrari:
Got a Ferrari?

Not quite good enough at driving?

Are other boys faster than you in the wet?

Then you need Ferrari International Assistance (FIA).

This exclusive Ferrari only membership club has many benefits. Including:

• Anti overtaking assurance
o Been overtaken? Feel a bit silly? Don’t worry, we’ll rule out the other party – even if it’s embarrassingly obvious that they’re faster than you
• Exclusive access to a secret ‘second lane’ in the pits
o Just to make things a little bit easier we’ve arranged a private second lane – just for you
• Guaranteed world championship?
o Had a crash? Need to win the world championship? Don’t worry just limp across the track and take off your nearest championship title contender - we’ll do the rest
• A bit strapped? Need extra cash?
o Simply get one of your team to tell someone else how you make your cars. We’ll guarantee a $100,000,000 windfall so that the rich get richer!
• Bits falling off your car? Looking a bit dangerous?
o At Ferrari International Assistance we operate a ‘blind eye’ policy just for Ferrari drivers
• Been a bit silly? Taken off another driver whilst following the safety car?
o It’s ok, as long as you didn’t hurt yourself. I mean, who are Force India anyway? And how dare they be in front of you
• A bit bored? Want some extra action?
o With FIA plus you can take part in a number of additional membership activities including the popular ‘kill your pit crew’ game
• Not sure when you might need us next?
o Relax. Check out our track record. We’re confident that we’ll be able to make something up on the spot that will get you out of any pickle that you might find yourself in
