Our Cal Club Representation ... Up 4 Vote

Post by Mako Koiwai »

Noticed in our latest SCCA Cal Club newspaper, that the Cal Club Board of Govenor election is ON.

We all need to vote; you can cut out or copy the ballots in the paper.

I'm endorsing New CSCC Blood in the shape of Christine Berry and Marshall Grice. Our "other" CSCC Mom, Gayle Jardine and another Solo friendly person in the form of Olie Thordarson are also on the ballot. We can vote for 4 Candidates.

PLEASE make the effort to increase our CSCC Representation. It can only help us get a share of our SCCA offerings in Southern CA.

If anyone else has more info on this matter, please fill us in.

Mako, let Mike and Renee handle this, as they'll be posting something on this "officially" soon.

Major mega props to Marshall, Christine, and Gayle. And Oli if you haven't met him at a solo event is a real kick, would love to see him out more. Even if he is one of those snobby evil club racer types. :)

Why would we need something "official" from the Solo2 management regarding our CSCC votes?

If they plan on waiting to publicize it then they should probably consider doing it before everyone gets their SoPac News and immediatly throws it away like I have been known to do.

A Ballot can be found in the Monthly SoPac News.

Oh, and I have to include this: Vote for me! :gpower:

I thought that publication was all about road race. Never could figure out why I was getting it.

Whatever we can do to get any little bit of influence there we SHOULD do.

Not so much the votes but to present to Solo2 members that this was even going on. But too late as the thread is already out.

Because you're an SCCA member of a region (Cal Club) in the Southern Pacific Division. The newsletter just has a heavy-bias reporting on road-racing, though they have reported on Solo2...provided we submit stuff to them to report and it's not guarantee to be in there every month.

They are more than happy to publish Solo stuff. Notice Hawaii is basically all Solo info, and San Diego coverage includes Solo. It's all based on what we provide. There has been more coverage in the past when we had someone submitting writeups after each event. We just need someone to volunteer to do it. We have enough pictures being taken to accompany an article, just need a writer.

John is absolutely right - you don't need me or Mike to tell you about the election. All you need to do is vote for Solo representation. You don't have to vote for all the positions open - JUST VOTE FOR THE SOLO PEOPLE!!!!!!!

So when exactly am I supposed to start getting the Cal Club paper? I've been a Cal Club member since April and an SCCA member since August, and the only thing I've ever received from SCCA or Cal Club in the mail is my SCCA card. Am I supposed to do something or sign up for something, or did I just fall into a black hole?

How many people can you vote for?
Because as Renee alluded to, if say you can vote for 5 but only three solo people are running, then vote for just those three. That's the best way our people get a spot at the table.

What Steve said, called "bullet" voting.

They've published everything I've ever submitted. And I've had them beg me for stuff that I never had time to write. I was submitting some of the special stuff, like the RallyXes, the SCNAX cup, the JrKart school, etc.

Um, if you were a "CalClub" member in April you were in SCCA. If you mean you had weekend memberships starting in April and you didn't get a full SCCA membership until August then that's when you would start getting newsletters (SportsCar & So Pac News) but I'm sure it isn't instant.

OK, so why are there 2 ballots on page 7? Is this some kind of Acorn/DNC trick?
