PAXL 2009 or Where are all the Women at?

Post by Sebastian Rios »

Who is still interested in PAXL? Last year saw 4 different winners and good competition throughout the year. It would be nice to see it again next year.

Or...If you are a woman, which class do you intend to compete in next year?

it's so sad when a couple goes their own ways, all the intimate details just get thrown out there

not that there's anything wrong with that

It's amazing how bad you can make something sound by putting it in quotes.

So back on topic, I take is shauna is in. Who else?

I sent him a pic of the temp gauge in my car - it was 21 degrees at 7am this morning. In return, he sent me a pic of him lounging poolside.

I SO WANT to go PAXL... but looks like I can't as we are running the car SK2.
The class isn't indexed for street tires, is it?
:?:

And i don't relish the idea of being DFL all season because I don't have R's.
:(
No, Mako -- you do NOT need to supercharge your new Miata! ...cuz now it's my turn to take it to the track :)
hmmmm... it is no longer "new" -- is it time to get faster?

I was curious about this one. Here's the PAX rule:

PAX CLASS
(a) All entrants driving vehicles that compete in any SCCA National Solo II class are
eligible to compete in this Regional Class.
(b) Class results are based on the entrant’s best time multiplied by the National
PAX/RTP Index for their SCCA Solo II class plus any penalty. This Index is
published in North American Pylon and other sources and is listed in Appendix C.
(c) Vehicles competing in this class will display PAX as their class designation. Entry
cards must have the PAX class as well as the normal Solo II class identified.

The rule as written currently doesn't include a provision for the SK adjustment of .098. I have a feeling this was an oversight as the SK classes were established after the PAX class. Since PAX is a local class, I see no reason why we can't add the SK adjustment to the PAX Class rule. Let the frying pans fly. :o

If I understand it correctly, the reason was the old timing software couldn't double index. [Another bit of the Supps that needs cleaning up: It's just Solo not Solo II.]

ah, Mako... :heyes: and I'm sure my darling would be willing... but we only have so much of that soft, yummy rubber left. As I've already justified the LeMOns money coming from the budget I'm saving from switching classes, that will only work for a few months.

It was NOT and oversight.
It was NOT a timing software issue.
It was discussed and it decided that these were the premier classes for our region and it wouldn't be appropriate to add trk, CSM, the SK's etc where we really didn't have good pax indexing info.

Now that concern applies less to SK than the others. But it does raise issues. If it rains hard, all the stock class competitors can switch to streets and claim to be SK cars. SP, preps, and mods can't do that. ST can't though they get an advantage in rain.

Its been several years since this rule was addressed so you're welcome to bring it up. I just wanted to started the discussion with the proper history.

Sounds about right. Seems to me PAX is there for at least 2 reasons. A. To save the Open Classes from being decimated and killed by all national champs and super drivers in our region and B. to make sure all those super drivers and national champs have a class where they can get a good level of competition themselves.

I'd think that goes without saying regardless of what timing software could or couldn't do.

Hey, you're certainly better than the average forum poster on the internet. Although our forums are superior in general to most. I re-read my posts at least once before hitting Submit and again as soon as it posts and make corrections as necessary. And I hated English in school!

BTW-On topic..... Stacey intends to run PAXL.

I would if it didn't involve surgery or non-regulated mayhem.

STS2 for me as soon as the car is decent and autocrossable (is that a word???). I'm hoping for that to be near the beginning of the season. :gpower:

Until then, it will be STSL in my blue cow, errr car, as usual.

With Aaron as our co-driver and the run group split between open and ladies, Beverlee will run PAXL in 09.
