I was tempted to photoshop his head onto a pic of the Stooges and post it, but I wasn't sure anyone would notice what I'd changed.

Re: Son of "Don't Drift this Thread"'s long lost cousin...
i hate ebay / paypal.
i win an auction this morning for a yakima roof rack setup for 30 bucks (probably would retail for ~300 new). obviously a great bargain, but that's the risk the seller takes when listing a no reserve auction.
anyways, i pay immediately via paypal, and 4 hours later, i get an e-mail back from the seller, "sorry, the items were stolen the other night, here's a refund".
I've contacted e-bay, but i'm sure their response is going to be something to the tune of we can only refund you the money, you're welcome to leave a feedback.
meanwhile, paypal's refund is on hold, even though they had no problem immediately withdrawing it from my bank.
gah!

Definitely sounds like stoopud realized he hadn't put a reserve on the auction. Dumbass should have canceled it right off and relisted it instead. "Stolen the other night" sounds like B.S. and if he can't see that he shouldn't be allowed to use eBay.
And the refund on hold is just like the delay in getting a refund for something paid by debit card. Money's gone right away, refund takes "2-3 business days." Visa and MasterCard's way of holding on to your money longer and showing more cash on the books. It's a screw job all the way. For something like the past 30 years checks drawn on nationally chartered banks were cleared by the Fed in two business days at the most. There's no reason an electronic transaction should be held up like that.

i'd feel somewhat bad if it was indeed stolen.. but somehow, i doubt that's what happened.
it's irritating because i had already ordered the foot attachment for my car this morning. still going to keep it since it's specific for my car, and there's literally NONE of those on the used market. argg..

paraphrase:Dear Jeff,
Thank you for writing eBay in regard to the seller who wouldn't sell you
the item you won.
Thank you for your report about newcentury05. We wanted to let you know
that we've thoroughly investigated the matter and have taken appropriate
action -- depending on all the circumstances, this could range from a
warning to terminating the seller's membership.
Due to concerns about privacy, we can't discuss one member's account
with another member, so I'm not able share the results of our
investigation with you. I hope this assures you that your account
history will also remain private.
If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reply to this
email and let us know.
Sincerely,
Lissette

we did stuff, but we can't tell you what we did. just trust us though, we did stuff, that matters, and stuff. YOU though, you're totally screwed. the stuff we can do can't help you in anyway.
hope that makes you feel better about ebay.
thanks,
Lissette

Hey Aaron, is there a limit to the length of a thread? At some point the computer probably can't handle all the data...

it's only on page 28, i'm sure this can go 4 digits before it breaks.
on a bright and sunny note, i get to miss x-mas and new years due to some asshat's mistake in AR. I was going to have to work over the holidays to catch this project up to schedule, and now i find out the info we've been basing the last 2.5 weeks of work on, is wrong.

my company is pretty jacked up. but at this point, i guess it's the adage of "beggars can't be choosers".Kurt Rahn wrote:And I bet said asshat will get a promotion very soon.
apparently no one is getting raises / bonuses this year. except i know that all the partners still get their quarterly bonuses. the management has also hacked up so much of the work force, that we're looking at 2/5 of the employees being "managers" of some sort, because those guys have been around too long to lay off, i guess.. >_<
how's this for messed up:
i want to call a meeting because there's some serious problems with deliverables from one department ("designers") to our's ("production", we are 85% of the billable hours, but the designers get the glory). anyways, the designers stuff are coming in pretty much useless, so i need to get a meeting together so that they can sort their crap out. the designer manager refuses to have a meeting, because one of his designers is out on vacation. the guy on vacation WORKS FOR HIM, but he's afraid to have a meeting without him. it's basically because the said designer is the nephew of the CEO, and will only do things his own way.
retarded.

You want to trade? I'll take a job at something between the high and low of your salary vs. what I was last paid, and you can collect $450 a week unemployment.Aaron Goldsmith wrote:I'm sure loving it.Jeff Shyu wrote:boy it's a wonderful day to be at work.. >_<
