Anyone Know a Shop That Sells Heim Joints/Spherical Joints i

Post by Greg Masterson »

So for the 3rd time This Stupid Company has sent me Faulty Heim joints for my Bumpsteer Kit. *PISSED OFF FACE* The UPR Heim Joits are so shitty they have play in them which is causing a 1/4 inch of toe change in my Alignment.

Anyways, i need to find a shop in So Cal that sells these. I need 2 Heavy Duty Heim Joints with Male Threaded Ends.

Does anyone know a shop in So Cal that sells these? Darin@WestEnd said there is a shop that sells Heim Joints in the LA/OC area but doesn't know exactly where or the same of the shop. Can anyone PLEASE help and point me in the right direction? I was thinking a Off-Road or race shop would Carry These.

This a Pic of what i need, point me in the right direction please

What's the fitting on the side?

Aircraft Spruce in Corona carries spherical bearings with right- or left-hand threaded shafts.

I dont know the size of the fitting on the bearing side or the threaded side so i would like to just take the Spherical Bushing to a shop and Match it up. The threading is standard Right hand Threaded.

I was pricing Spherical Race bushings from http://www.bakerprecision.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; in Signal Hill and they are $80 a Piece. Thats alot considering i can get a higher quality bumpsteer kit than i already have for $150.

I need something that has Zero Play but a moderate price. I dont mind spend $100 for a pair of Spherical Bushings

Aircraft Spruce was my first thought, too, but possibly http://www.mcmaster.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; also.

McMaster definitely has them. Am pretty sure that McFadden-Dales can get them also, but they may have to order them. Those prices sound crazy - last ones I bought (8mm threads) were less than ten bucks each.

Also, the fittings on the side of those bearings is for greasing. Requires one of the little pointy adapters, can be purchased at most auto parts places. Greasing the sphericals is usually helpful at extending life but that doesn't change that force magnitude is what does them in. One big whack and they're gone.

You really should figure out what size it is you need. Take one of those crappy rod ends to the hardware store and find the nut that fits the thread. Now you know the thread size and pitch. Then measure the inside diameter of the rod end. If you don't have micrometer calipers, borrow or find somewhere that sells digital micrometer calipers, pretend you're buying and make the measurement. Now you can tell a shop exactly what you want. Aircraft Spruce in Corona carries Aurora rod ends, one of the top brands. I'd start there. For motorsports, you'll want the teflon lined bearings. Good luck!
