Ryan Baumgartner from Colorado is selling his very clean black '89 Civie. Its a fast car, still has a few minor things to make it faster. Great entry point to the class. Ryan had national success in the car.

I hear you Steve - Craiger will be moving in with me at the end of the month. Sounds like something we might be interested in; however, money is really tight at this point and Craig really liked that Nissan and I don't want to disrespect him.

well the Subie is killing tires as well as WHEELS

I broke another one (this is the 2nd) last year,

and u know those SSR's are hard to come by and still expensive...

Soon as I broke one SSR ... I bought a replacement and then sold the whole set. The buyer didn't use them for at least half a year ... and then when he finally had tires mounted, the mounter said they were ALL distorted and virtually not balance able?! One was brand new! I told him that didn't seem right, since one was obviously brand new.

Got a set for the Miata ... hoping the lighter Miata will be nicer to them?

Note to self: Screw SSRs. Buy the lighter and way cheaper Kosei K1-TSs instead.

The SSR's are keys because they are light and they are 15x7.5

If the tire to have stays a 195-50-15 which lives great on a 15x7 rim, then the wheel to get is probably the Enkei RPF1. Lighter than the Kosei by a lot and price comparable. Though tough to argue with the bang for the buck of the 15x7 Falken Hanabi (under a $100 a piece and under 10lbs on my scales).

Just try to find a 15x7.5.

That's right...I forgot this is an ST thread. I was thinking of wheels for a DS Subie WRX (17 X 7). The Kosei is listed at 14.6 pounds and costs a hair under $200. The lightest SSR is 15.0 pounds (at least according to Tire Rack) and they cost double what the Kosei does. Plus, I just figured out that they don't make any 17 X 7 wheels, so I'd be out of luck anyway.

I wonder if the SSR's have become heavier and possibly stronger? My WRX SSR's, five years ago, were 13 lbs

He probably wasn't looking at an SSR Type-C.

Check out Enkei RPF1's. Tough to beat on value. And they have more sizes than the ads list. Enkei makes more sizes than any rim I can think of.

As far as I can tell, the Flaken Hanabi is discontinued. I'm probably going to get some Rotas 15x7.5 From JLBMotorsports ;) with full tread tires and use them as rains.
I love my Enkei RPF-1s.

I remember weighing a 15x7 Kosei K1-TS and it was heavier than advertised.

The light Kosei's are long long gone. Every one I've seen for years is a cement block. Good for weighing down bodies in the bay.

Too bad about the Hanabi's.

On civie topics.... Did Tim Smith run Moton's in Topeka? I thought it was just King in the CRX. But he has MOTON on his sig now.

Tim Smith ran 15x7.5 Rotas on his winning car last year. I don't think it matters a whole bunch if I'm only using them for rain tires/wheels.
I'm still holding out on getting another set of light/$$ 15" wheels in hopes that 16" will be the size again and I'll be able to use the 16" SSRs that came with the car.

I don't see the 16's as any advantage right in the tires, I'm guessing will be best. But, you never know how it will work out.

My guess is they DID have problems with them and that's why the comp H's are discontinued
and Tire Rack now offers the slightly heavier Type RS or something like that...
which one can only hope is stronger than the previous versions...

Since Tanabe took control of SSR they changed the Comp wheels. All 17" and larger diameter Comps became 2-piece wheels, in most cases this added 1.5-2lbs to the wheels. Small ones are still 1-piece and light.

I have four years on my 18" 1-piece comps with no problems.

You sure he wan't running on 15x7 Enkei RPF-01s?

A 15x7.5 Rota would be a horrendously bad choice for a 195/50-15 R1R tire IMHO over a far lighter 9.9 LB cast spun RPF-01. Quite frankly I'd be shocked if this were the case.
