Specifically for a Mac ... anything else besides Safari and Firefox? IE hasn't supported Macs for years.

I use both Firefox and Safari ... but spend so much time waiting for things to open, I want a third browser.

I'm using Firefox 3.0.6 on a Mac Mini, connected via the slowest DSL service offered by Pacific Bell and don't have those latency problems Mako. I'm willing to bet it isn't the browser that's your problem.

Is your computer connecting wired or wireless? Do you have any unsecured wireless routers on the network? Check out that issue then contact your ISP and see if their tech people can help you isolate the problem.

Just downloaded Camino for Mac ... and it's FAST, as my high connection speed would suggest! I went through these issues a while ago with a dLink rep ... since our router is a Dlink device.. I'll check with TimeWarner tomorrow. Everything SEEMS to check out with Firefox and Safari as far as I can tell? But obviously something is different between newly downloaded Camino compared to my old but current Firefox and Safari. Cleaned them all out.

Don't think it's the router ... since Karen's laptop isn't having problems. I've been using an ethernet cable out of the router ... and it doesn't seem to help. I Speedtest very fast ... but I'm just not able to make the connection to many individual sites.

I've been Repair Permissions, running Macaroni and iAntiVirus ... nothing seems to come up wrong or bad?!

Are you on cable? Depending on how many others are on the same node and surfing, your speed will be effected. Cable puts several users on each node, unlike DSL where you don't share bandwidth with your neighbors.

Firefox updated a couple times in the past three or four weeks. Are you running the latest version?

Mako, Time-Warner DNS servers were still having major issues the other day. I changed my DNS server to 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.3 (legacy GTE servers) and everything is fast again. You'll want to change that setting in your router, if it allows you to set DNS separately.

Seems like it's been going on longer that a week. My TW internet has sucked lately with probably one out of 4 attempts resulting in "page cannot be displayed" error messages.

My internet was out during the day several times last week and the week before. I could ping, trace, and resolve addresses just fine, but when I tried to load up a webpage or get some other data transfers going, it would stall. I figured it was Time Warner screwing things up like they have in the past.

I have Time Warmer in Redondo Beach also. I experienced the same problems. Last night I had a weird problem. Only my Skype worked, but everything else didn't.

I don't know if it's related, but within the last week or so, Time Warner finally added a bunch of HD channels to their basic lineup in our area. Popular channels like Discovery and TLC HD that DirecTV and Verizon FIOS have had for a while. Stupid Time Warner.

Just change your DNS server settings to 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.3 and you're good to go. The attacks have been against TW's DNS servers. The actual Internet connection has been solid.
