Re: Check out this clown
That's very weird! They were going to buy one of my shots of Ken from this weekend. Hi Rez file sent and promise of quick "check in the mail?!"
At least for the printed press release that was going to go out to the dealers ... a run of 2,000 copies.

Mako, I liked the original car photo much better than the one you sent. The duct tape on the numbers was epic! }:)

Mako,
I thought the one now on the press release link above (substituted for the original shot) was one of yours.
Looking at the original and comparing to the shot you posted above, I can see you did a little work to this one
It's a great shot, as usual.

Just a little photoshop polish, wax and elbow grease. ;)
... it might have been easier to have used a photo of Kyle's Honda ... and ported everything Ken on to it.

Ken Motonishi and Tim Smith Win on Toyo® Proxes® R1R™ Tires
Marks third consecutive victory for Motonishi in SCCA® Solo Competition
CYPRESS, CALIFORNIA – Ken Motonishi piloted his 1989 Honda Civic Si equipped with Toyo Proxes R1R extreme performance tires to his third successive victory in SCCA Solo competition this past weekend in San Diego, California. Competing in the Street Touring (ST) class, Motonishi won by a margin of more than two seconds to trounce the competition at the SCCA regional event.
This is the third in a string of victories for Motonishi on Proxes R1R tires, having won at the SCCA regional in El Toro the preceding weekend by a margin of more than one second, and by winning the previous SCCA regional competition in San Diego.
Also scoring a victory on Proxes R1R tires this past weekend was Tim Smith, competing in the SCCA Atlanta Region Solo. Driving his ST Class 1989 Honda Civic Si, Smith defeated a large field of 26 cars in the Pro Class, while also scoring a Top-Time-of-Day at the event. Smith won the 2008 SCCA Solo National Championships in Topeka, Kansas in the Street Touring S class while running Toyo Proxes R1R tires. He will be competing this weekend in the first event of the 2009 Solo National Tour which will be held at South Georgia Motorsports Park.
“We congratulate Ken Motonishi on his outstanding string of Solo victories in California and Tim Smith for his dominance in Atlanta,” said Stan Chen, manager of motorsports and events, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. “The Proxes R1R is proving to be the tire of choice for winning in the ultra-competitive Street Touring classes of Solo.”
The 140-UTQG rated Proxes R1R has a dynamic arrowhead tread pattern for excellent water drainage and wet performance. Its wide footprint delivers maximum dry weather traction and an aggressive appearance for the enthusiast driver. The Proxes R1R is ideal for aggressive street driving, time attacks and autocross. It also won the 2007 D1 GP championship and the 2007 and 2008 Formula Drift® championships.

Re: Check out this clown
Weird ... they're still not using my Photo of Ken?
A bunch of us photographers were complaining that Anheuser-Busch announced that they were officially going to take 120 days to pay ... when the mail came with my check ... less then 24 hours after I emailed it to them?!
THAT IS MUCH BIGGER NEWS THEN KEN WINNING ... AGAIN!
(So Sorry Ken ... at least we're going to get better shots of you at the Tour! Get some more Toyo Decals applied! :- )

Re: Check out this clown
From what I understand, TMC purchased your photo for one time use in Toyo's internal dealer magazine; "Connect" and not for the Toyo press releases which is something separate from your deal. This is why TMC used an existing photo provided by Toyo.Mako Koiwai wrote:Weird ... they're still not using my Photo of Ken?

I'm glad to hear you got paid so quickly, Jay Jones is the man! And in less than 24hrs? That's gotta be some kind of a record. When I did work for Primedia, APG, HFM, overseas, or any other publisher it would take MONTHS to get paid for a feature, and sometimes they'd skip out on the bill! (Overseas groups). :unimpressed:
