SOLD! FS: 1994 CSP Miata + tire trailer

Post by Bob Beamesderfer »

FOR SALE: 1994 Mazda Miata “A Package” [power steering, power mirrors]

Black with red hardtop; soft top deleted. Without top and driver, car weighs approx. 2,075 pounds. Would be lighter with non-stock exhaust and back-dating to 1990 dash top to delete passenger airbag.

Partially developed for C Street Prepared with the following:

Front Suspension: Koni Sport [yellow] dampers, shortened, re-valved, with Koni threaded sleeves and perches. Second-gen Miata upper shock mounts [Konis are the NB part]. 600 lb. Eibach springs. RacingBeat tubular front sway bar with adjustable end links. Super Pro polyurethane suspension bushings, including offset inboard lower-control arm units, which allow -2.75 degrees of negative camber or more.

Rear Suspension: Koni Sport [yellow] dampers, shortened, with Koni threaded sleeves and perches. Second-gen Miata upper shock mounts [Konis are the NB part]. 325 lb. Afco springs. Super Pro polyurethane suspension bushings. No rear sway bar used, but I have both 11mm and 12mm Mazda factory bars. The front and rear dampers are the ones used by George Doganis when he won CSP at Nationals. Car is corner balanced with cross weights within about 1% without driver.

Other chassis: Mazda Competition engine mounts, Mazda Comp differential bushings. Odyssey lightweight battery. Mazda factory front chin spoiler. Hella E-code headlamps w/Hella H4 YellowStar foul-weather bulbs.

Front Brakes: 1.6 liter-model front rotors [smaller, less rotational mass and un-sprung weight], Mazda factory part, slotted and cryogenically treated by Porterfield Enterprises. Porterfield R4-S pads. Goodrich braided-stainless brake lines. Dust shields removed. Extended ARP wheel studs.

Rear Brakes: Mazda factory rotors, cryogenically treated by Porterfield Enterprises. Porterfield R4-S pads. Goodrich braided-stainless brake lines. Dust shields removed. Extended ARP wheel studs.

Engine: stock 1994 1.8-liter. Power steering, no AC. Monster intake with carbon fiber cross-over tube and aluminum heat shield. Magnecore 8.5mm ignition wires; Track Dog header blanket; Tilton proportioning valve on rear circuit, mounted next to master cylinder. Aluminum heat shield to protect brake proportioning valve and MC from exhaust heat. Dual-core Mazda radiator, same as model used with auto trans. Remote oil filter with AN lines. SPA oil/water temp gauge [oil temp reading is erratic; gauge, not sender, needs repair according to SPA]. Oil temp taken where oil exits block to filter. Water temp taken inline from radiator outlet house. [Lower radiator hose, uses single hose from NB with an aluminum sleeve for sensor. Removes NA’s longer steel pipe.]

Transmission: Mazda 5-speed w/ Fidanza 1.6 liter-model aluminum flywheel, Centerforce Dual-Friction clutch. Braided-stainless line from clutch MC to slave. Simpson short-shifter, Team Voodoo black wrinkle on aluminum shift knob and parking brake handle [finish allows easy taping of brake handle button for those inclined Pro Solo starts.] Stock 1994 Torsen differential w/ 4.10 gear.

Exhaust: Stock system installed. Price includes: RacingBeat 4-2-1 header w/o EGR bung, blocking plate for EGR inlet on intake manifold, new gaskets and 2.25-inch high-flow cat [technically, not CA legal as it’s made to be used in pairs on Chevy LS motors; plan was to use that as a resonator/muffler along with two Car Chemistry inserts, also included]. Cool-Tech header insulating sleeves also included; these fit loosely to allow heat expansion and can be taken on and off without removing header.

Interior: Sparco Rev seats, Sparco steering wheel, Team Voodoo black wrinkle on aluminum shift knob and parking brake handle [easier to tape button in for those inclined Pro Solo starts]. One seat has a slightly used cover, with some wear on the outboard shoulder wing and outboard bolster. The other still has the original cover, but a new, in-the-box cover comes with the car.

Wheels: One set of 14” Mazda factory wheels with worn Falken Azenis 615s. One set of 13x7.5” Lenso wheels with dead Hoosier A6s.

Trailer: Harbor Freight tire trailer w/ 12-inch wheels/tires, including spare. Race tires hauled flat using vertical galvanized pipes drilled for locks; Contico storage box. Four keyed-alike locks for storage box and wheels. Keyed-alike locks for ball mount to hitch receiver and for locking ball latch on trailer. Hard Dog hitch. Permanent CA trailer plate.

Miscellaneous spare parts, some new, some used; I need to do an inventory to list them, but mostly seals, fasteners, rebuild kits, calipers.

To be regionally competitive in CSP, the car needs a ’99 engine; lighter, free-flow exhaust system; and 15x9 wheels to fit the 275/35 15 Hoosier A6; rear spoiler.

To be nationally competitive in CSP, the car needs a 2001 engine [has variable valve-timing]; aftermarket ECU; exhaust system; 15x9 wheels; strip all smog equipment; backdate to no passenger airbag. The 15-inch wheels will require higher spring rates and re-corner balancing. Rear spoiler and front splitter—or the ability to drive like George Doganis.

Price: $6,000

Thanks. If I get a job soon, I won't have to, but nothing sells quickly so I put it up now.

Yeah, it is a little vague to just say the suspension is well-sorted.

Bob,

Sorry to hear you have to sell your car because of your job situation. Aren't you a writer? Let me know.

Thanks, Don

Time to bring this back to life.

FOR SALE: 1994 Mazda Miata “A Package” [power steering, power mirrors]

Black with red hardtop; soft top deleted. Without hardtop and driver, car weighs approx. 2,075 pounds with less than 1/4 tank of fuel. Would be lighter with non-stock exhaust and back-dating to 1990 dash top to delete passenger airbag. About 175,000 miles. Had about 93,000 when I bought it in 2003.

Partially developed for C Street Prepared with the following:

Front Suspension: Koni Sport [yellow] dampers, shortened, revalved, with Koni threaded sleeves and perches. Second-gen Miata upper shock mounts [Konis are the NB part]. 600 lb. Eibach springs. Rear Suspension: Koni Sport [yellow] dampers, shortened, revalved, with Koni threaded sleeves and perches. Second-gen Miata upper shock mounts [Konis are the NB part]. 325 lb. Afco springs. Other chassis: Mazda Competition engine mounts, Mazda Comp differential bushings. Odyssey lightweight battery. Mazda factory front chin spoiler. Hella E-code headlamps w/YellowStar foul weather bulbs; dual Hella horns, handy for alerting inattentive boat-towing Bros in lifted F-250s on the 15.

Front Brakes: 1.6 liter-model front rotors [smaller, less rotational mass and un-sprung weight], Mazda factory part, slotted and cryogenically treated by Porterfield Enterprises. Porterfield R4-S pads. Goodrich braided-stainless brake lines. Dust shields removed. Extended ARP wheel studs.

Rear Brakes: Mazda factory rotors, cryogenically treated by Porterfield Enterprises. Porterfield R4-S pads. Goodrich braided-stainless brake lines. Dust shields removed. Extended ARP wheel studs.

Magnecore 8.5mm ignition wires; Track Dog header blanket; Tilton proportioning valve on rear circuit, mounted next to master cylinder. Cool-Tech header insulation also included.

Interior: Sparco Rev seats, Sparco steering wheel, Team Voodoo black wrinkle on aluminum shift knob and parking brake handle [easier to tape button in for those inclined Pro Solo starts]. One seat has a nearly new cover, with minimal wear on the outboard shoulder wing. The other still has the original cover, but a new, in-the-box cover comes with the car.

Wheels: One set of 14” Mazda factory wheels with worn Falken Azenis 615s. One set of 13x7.5” Lenso wheels with dead Hoosier A6s [could be revived for practice with Traction Formula V].

Trailer: Harbor Freight tire trailer w/ 12-inch wheels/tires, including spare. Tires hauled flat using vertical galvanized pipes drilled for locks; Contico storage box. Four keyed-alike locks for storage box and wheels. Keyed-alike locks for ball mount to hitch receiver and for locking ball latch on trailer. Hard Dog hitch. Permanent CA trailer plate.

Miscellaneous spare parts; I need to do an inventory to list them.

To be regionally competitive in CSP, the car needs a ’99 engine, lighter, free-flow exhaust system and 15x9 wheels to fit the 285 Hoosier A6, rear spoiler.

The 15-inch wheels will require higher spring rates and re-corner balancing. Rear spoiler and front splitter; or the ability to drive like George Doganis.
