They made a lost and found announcement at the end of Heat 5 on Sunday, and the keys were still there at that point.Mako Koiwai wrote:Anyone know if a set of Subaru keys turned up?

and for comedic value, here's my first run sunday after it stopped raining, on A6's. My fast run from Sunday isn't worth posting.

Not that I think you cheated your way to the win... But why did you get a rerun? Was it for the cone down after the finish? And seriously, my announce asst was telling me you had a cone on your first run before you hit the finish, but some of our radio calls were coming in so late they turned out to be from one or two cars previous. :unimpressed:Bill Schenker wrote:If anyone is interested.
This, due to changing conditions (rain), was also the TToD.

Sorry for the F-bombs. I really was surprised by the time (I actually feel I left another ~0.5 secs. out there w/the mistakes I made) and let a couple loose.
(And for those that feel I may have "cheated" my way into the win w/getting a re-run :unimpressed: , know that my 1st run that had to be re-run was good enough for the win and TToD -52.3xx)
They gave Bill the cone that he didn't stop for---the last one before the finish. Allie Rader hit that cone and took it with her in my car, leaving it just before the turn to exit and pick up the post it. Bill stopped for the cone in the chute and didn't stop where the cone once was. I don't think anyone would have stopped for that downed cone and missing pointer cone since they were no where near!! The problem arose when the starter didn't see the tank slapper by Allie going up the hill and allowed Bill to leave. She ran 68.+ and he ran 52. really not giving enough time for anyone to pick up cones near the finish.Jason Isley BS RX8 wrote:Not that I think you cheated your way to the win... Interesting to see Bill and Reijo's fast run videos from Nationals in '07. Reijo LOOKS slow ... he's so smooth ... Bill is working it hard ... but couldn't match Reijo.George just looks effortlessly precise. Bill looks like his seat caught on fire.
The plot thickens... I love it...Jason Uyeda wrote:Bill hit a cone previous to the finish, in station 3 IIRC. He was not granted the re-run because of the downed cone at/after/whatever the finish. He was granted a re-run because it was felt that his first run was on a course in which he had an unfair advantage. Allie had hit and removed both the left side standing and pointer cones just before the finish and Bill had a much straighter path through the finish. Several witnesses reported that he did use this to his advantage but that's somewhat irrelevant as regardless it's not fair for him to compete on a different course than his competitors (imagine a missing slalom cone....). That first run was 52.3xx, impressively he managed a 52.1xx with the course properly intact.

OK, thats what I was wondering. And that does confirm my announcing that he had hit a cone was accurate.Jason Uyeda wrote:Bill hit a cone previous to the finish, in station 3 IIRC. The tech guy (not Robbie) was telling me how he didn't like JR karts (I think he thought Jon's kart was mine) because they are so slow. After getting the tech sticker I told him "I don't know what you drive but I'll bet this Fj kart is faster than you" and walked away.Christine Berry wrote:Good showing of Jr Kart class alums!

It may be true that the 5-7 year old karters are slow at first, but what PSCC did and Team BLEW is also doing having a separate kids course will go a long way to making them much quicker and used to a cone course when they run a regular event. Easy to do at El Toro, but possible at CalSpeedway, too. Note that they choose to continue on the Jr course on the Championship day, no impact on the event. I think Robert cut his time in half from where he started and his confidence obviously grew. They are our future, both as drivers and some like Christine that will give back as valuable contributors to events and the region.Eric Clements wrote:The tech guy (not Robbie) was telling me how he didn't like JR karts (I think he thought Jon's kart was mine) because they are so slow. For your information, I was leading after the first day of that race. Both Reijo and I drove poorly by our standards the 2nd day, I hit a patch of sand on my last run that cost me significant time. Had Reijo and I both drove well the 2nd day, it might have very well wound up the same way, or maybe not. The point is, he is the National Champion and that's all that counts there. But if you think I "can't match Reijo" then look back to your own experience of ski racing, and remember Bernard Russi and Franz Klammer and think about your statement again, Mako (not that I'm comparing myself to the great Franz KlammerMako Koiwai wrote:Interesting to see Bill and Reijo's fast run videos from Nationals in '07. Even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day! ;)Jason Isley BS RX8 wrote:And that does confirm my announcing that he had hit a cone was accurate.
And you're absolutely right, Jason, you made the right call. Now, if you can, because I know it will pain you to lower yourself and put yourself into the shoes of a 'Tard, look how it appeared to me: I came through the finish (I NEVER saw missing cones; sure seemed to me that I barely made it past the cone on the left, before the finish, which was the real heart-stopper) and as I get near the the last turn to the right, by your announcing car, I see a cone. I don't want to be called for that cone (I have no idea, at this point, that I hit one in station 3) so I stop, point it out to the course worker, get him to acknowledge that I didn't hit it, and move on. But I hear you saying that I've hit a cone. I think you mean the one in the finish shoot and and get mad because, in my mind I've done everything right and am getting a bad break. I couldn't get anyone's attention in the trailer to not count this cone against me, nor did anyone tell me I hit one earlier either. Anna Goeke comes over, trys to straighten things out, and in the mean time, our car is setting in grid w/my tires cooling off. I'm then given a choice of keeping my run or taking a re-run. Since it appears to be a good time for a first run, I keep it. Only later did I find out I've been called on a cone earlier but at this point, I'm given a re-run based on what Jason U. described above.Jason Isley BS RX8 wrote:OK, thats what I was wondering.
