I was practicing my Windmills during lunch period, or ditching class and going on AOL with a friend's computer tying up his phone line and bs'ing in iconic chatrooms of the era such as - JaPaN - sTrEET RaCIng, (It was actually typed like that) And going to Ontario, Glenoaks, or Sylmar on Friday nights for the ricer fest errr... I was in New York City managing 5 of the busiest golf courses in the world. Close to 600,000 rounds of golf from 5 courses and driving a Red Z 28 Camaro. The insurance in the Bronx on that car was $350 /mo, almost as much as the car payment.
They just knew it would get stolen.

A lot of cars did but not mine.

I uncovered my bosses stolen car on the golf course he had buried three years before. We made national headlines on that one. He got prosecuted but paid his way out of it.

Pelham Split Rock Golf Course had 36 dead bodies turn up on the course in the 10 previous years and I am glad to say I was not number 37

in 96 i had a totally different life
just finished college and was working as a tennis pro where i grew up in cleveland .. in the summer i was the head pro of a club called the chagrin valley hunt club in wonderful gates mills, oh. we had the green clay courts and i owned the pro shop along with having a few assistants. there was the pro shop shack under a huge tree, a little stream, horse and dog kennels for hunting. there was the pool and large house/clubhouse where they had a fine dining room that bill clinton would dine when visiting cleveland .. yes he actually did visit cleveland a few times lol

in the winter i was the only pro at a very private club called 'the hanger' which in the 1930's was originally a wealthy guys private club separate from his home.. with indoor pool , tennis court , locker rooms and amazing artwork and murials . it has a very unique glass roof with ivy coming down the walls inside the court. it was rebuild by a family memeber in the mid 80s and turned into a private club with 80 friends as members. it is now a national historic landmark. oh i almost forgot in the locker rooms they used soap that was $12 a bar

during this time i had a house sitting gig ( yes zero rent) in a large farm house in gate mills 1 mile from the club...

in the master where i resided there were two bathrooms and french doors leading onto a stone patio. i also had maid service every two week( never did a dish ) , lawn and snow plow service obviously, secluded back yard with cliff above of the chargin river. my friends and i would hit 8 and 9 irons onto the street from the back yard

the owner (whos father was at one time an ambassador) was living with her bf in maine and she was only at the house for 5 days in 1.5 years time!!.. her son was home one summer and lived in an apt above the garage on the other side of the house. this was no issue as he was a cool kid anyway

did this situation jade me.. obviously

i miss the art of teaching tennis and miss the ladies telling me ' jeff , i wore this outfit just for you wink' (being a one piece white tennis dress with side v cuts at the upper upper thighs ) ;)

the highlight of 96 was playing as a pro in the ' cystic fibrosis tennis auction ball' charity event.. this was a pro/am event where at a black tie dinner tennis players from the sponsoring companies would be drawn with a pro and people in attendance would bid on the teams. after playing about 7-8 hours of tennis the next day my shoulder was shot

oh i was driving a rare mint black 1991 944s2 that i bought with the tennis money my second year of college

The orange came into play really in college - broke college student, clothes shopping, orange was always on sale... hmmm...

you're on campus w/ 10k other doods - most of whom wear black, gray, white, or some dark/neutral colored clothing. Who will the girls notice, them, or Mr. Orange?

Like I told Ken yesterday, it all started a/ an orange messenger bag I got from my sister Senior year in high school. Then it rolled into a "lucky" orange shirt I wore on test days in college that I paid $5 for, $5 for a shirt @ the mall - CRAZY!

Guess I just wanted to be different, my statement against conformity I suppose: the orange wearing Computer Science major who hung out on the opposite side of campus & took Sociology classes - I swear it was because of the course material, not the 70-80% girl ratio. Oh, the things I did in college.

But yea, none of that fun in 96. High School wasn't that great for me. Haven't kept in contact w/ anyone I've known back then.

O, and speaking of Quake and games:

Can't believe I played most of these games. Saved up for weeks and weeks of allowance for that trip to Fry's, WOO HOO!

I was driving a 1985 Chevy Camaro 2.8l V-6 in TGS(T = the street tire class in Oregon Region back then).

I was working at the local Toyota Dealer in the service department. M-F 7:30- 4:30. Some Saturdays I'd come in and do PDIs. Weekday lunches usually consisted of Subway(across the street) or McMenamins Pub in Oregon City.

For fun, we went 4wheelin or mountain biking. In the summer we'd take the chair lifts to the mid part of Mount Hood and ride down. Once a month on Friday nights, a group of us from the dealership would park 10-15 miles south of downtown Portland and ride the waterfront in to Captian Ankeny's Pub. Every so often on a Wednesday night, a couple of us would go to the bar 2 blocks from my place for $3 pitchers(microbrew, not the normal bud/budlight specials).

You gave all of that up....that's like an awesome movie; New York, Z28, Buried Cars, Bodies, Bribery. I hope you are writting a screen play
