Golf anyone?

Post by Max Hayter »

I have one spot free in a foursome for 11.15am tomorrow at Costa Mesa Gold Club (off Mesa Verde Drive).

We all shoot in the low 100's, so talent is not a prereuisute.

Let me know if you are interested.

i've never been. isn't golf one of those "sports" that's based upon twisting your body in a way which it's not suppose to go anyways?

Golf is as physical as you make it. Most are pretty inefficient in the movements they make losing the leverage and snap that can be generated with relatively small amounts of actual twisting.

Unfortunately, I can't think of a tougher sport for an adult to learn and become anywhere remotely good. The only luck I've had teaching adults to play have been with former professional or atleast college baseball players.

Max,

Didn't know you played. I was practicing/playing three or four times a week in December in January but haven't played since then. We gotta hook up some time. Last time I played I only lost one ball! I went against the wishes of my father and listened to my father-in-law who wanted me to test the new Callaway monster 1 wood he'd given to me for Xmas. I hit a fade shot into the next zip code! :geek:

Ken
Dood, are you gonna eat that?

The point here is that I used to play, a lot! My handicap was 14.

Now, it seems that only playing about once a year since then, my handicap would be about 35! I can still hit the ball a fair distance, but it's pretty random directionally

Come on Ken, come out tomorrow!

Ken
We have something in common Ken. I too measure the success of a golf round on the number of lost balls. Anything less that three.....stupendous round. Anything over 10.....I quit.

Ken ... I found what must have been one of your golf balls while setting up the Figure 8 ... I kicked it over to the south side of the runway ... near where the entrance security perimeter was.

I was thinking the El Toro runways would be a great place to tee off....

I played a round at Lost Canyons in Simi. Windy day and we played the tips. I shot 102.
TWELVE balls out. I guess I violated George's 10 ball rule. But I was really playing pretty good. Just with a 40mph wind that place is insanely unforgiving and I wasn't hitting it particularly straight. I doubt the average golfer would have finished the round. I normally carry about 8 balls in the bag. Fortunately, at Lost Canyons, you can always find another ball to finish your round with as long as you have a good relationship with the rattlesnakes.

Mako-

Could you tell it was Kenny's golf ball because of some identifying mark? Hello Kitty in a turtleneck?

No our younger bro's baseball team decided to bleach their hair for a tournament they have. So to get the bleach out he will have to buzz his hair.

I'm back....

In my second week now of practicing. No shoulder pain. Everything else hurts, but the shoulder is fine.

Now looking for tournaments to play in while my handicap is still ridiculously high. Its rather larcenous. I'd rather play scratch.... But I'm not that good (for the time being).

BTW-Little Robert is in week 2 of golf camp. 4 hours a day, 5 days a week. He's not, unfortunately, a natural.

Ron-

Do you have a index? I saw a Ron Tsumura listed out of Sansei Golf Club in NCGA. My normal golf buddy just moved last month literally across the street from the Port Hueneme course. I'd love to go up and see him and maybe we could all play. Memories! I last played there more than 20 years ago.

Do you get your navy.mil email anytime? I want to send you a private message.

When I do play I only manage around 100.
I should be 80s, if only I could get rid of all those snow men!

I will coordinate with you later...
