Re: 2009 Wendover ProSolo
Max drove awesome - considering we weren't sure if he'd even be able to make his Sunday AM runs after I lost a brake line on my first Sunday run! I'm soooo thankful we got it back in one piece with a borrowed brake line - everything fell into place for Max's first Pro Challenge win!
Apparently he likes my STI's better than his - his prior best finish in a challenge was in my '07 STI last year

Wendover ProSolo - Congrats Max!
On some tough and very cone intensive courses, Max drove well in class competition, taking 1st place. Then after almost deciding to prep the car for its owner to drive home, Max went on to win every round in the Super Challenge against some very top drivers, becoming this year's Wendover ProSolo Super Challenge Champion! :king:
Congrats man, and thanks for enduring my chatter on the long faast drive home.

Re: 2009 Wendover ProSolo
Shauna and I had a great time, thanks to Jeff and Nicole for the co-drive. Having friends along on the long drive makes it go by a lot faster too...good times.
I can't believe the range in my truck, I think I could make it home with a fill up in Ely!
I still haven't figured out the Pro format, but it was a good time, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself even though I drove poorly. I would go to Wendover again.
Congratulations Max...it was my woolen hat that gave you good luck. ;)

So far this theory makes the most sense to me.Will Kalman wrote:Very very cool, Pete!
But theory on the stutter is driveline windup and release. Driveshafts, axles, engine/tranny mounts twist and flex, the force exceeds traction, tires slip, torque is reduced, driveline unwinds, traction is regained, driveline winds up...later, rinse, repeat.

That slo-mo shot of your start is cool ... and you didn't Red Light! Wheels start going into motion long before the Green light comes on ... at 300 frames per second

Thanks everyone for the support - it was a great experience.Annie Bauer wrote:Max was on fire, yes!

Here's the funny thing, I wasn't stressed at all in the SC. The class win was FAR more stressful, and during the SC, I was more worried about Annie catching her plane than anything else. When I got to the last eight, I asked her if she wanted me to deliberately lose, but she said, "Hell no!". So, I just went into each round with the plan to drive the first side hard and adjust as necessary on the second side. On one run, I drove the first side too hard and hit two cones, but the other guy hit three on the other side! I was never behind after the first side, so I never had to take risks on the second run. I was very calm throughout and just was sort of in a weird daze. Must have been one of those funny Ken zen moments he talks about!
Looking back on it today, it's only just hitting me and I'm struggling to concentrate at work since I'm so mentally exhausted. Something I'll never forget for sure

I really want to thank Annie and Abe for being so supportive, and also a huge thank you to Tom Hardy of the Utah region for pulling a brake line off his perfectly functioning STI, so that I could run at all on Sunday.
I also want to thank the person that put some pink, frilly, size XXL panties in my pocket after I won without me noticing. I shall hang them on my wall

Are drag chutes legal in ST?
I guess that explains why Kenny's so fast!
