Lone Pine Clean-up:Workers needed.

Post by David Barrish »

I am writing to see if you may be able to help out with the Lone Pine Time
Trials this year. In particular, I need some help with cleanup weekend as
two of our regular able bodies will not be able to make it this year.
Cleanup weekend is May 16 - 17. I have campsites reserved at Lone Pine
Campground (6 mi. west of town up the Whitney Portal road) for Friday and
Saturday nights, May 15 - 16. I will be going up Friday morning to setup
camp. There will be food, drink, and tent space ready for anyone who can
come no matter how late you get there. We can eat drink and be merry in
the evenings and do road work on the airstrip like convicts during the day.
What could be finer? I would appreciate a call on my cellphone to discuss
it even if you will not be able to make it. Please leave a message if I am
unable to take your call.

Thanks for your consideration,

Brian Moon

FYI

Brian sent this e-mail to me, requesting my help. If anyone out there is available to help please give him a call.

His note says it all, be prepared to re-hydrate with adult beverages when the work is done.

Thank you.

Mike,

Thank you for moving this to the top of the list.

I would hope that after getting thru the comming weekend people start to focus on the comming event at Lone Pine. This event provides thoes that make the effort to get them selves there a chance to try a different aspect of our addiction.

This will be my fourth trip. I may no longer be a "rookie" but I am still working at maintaining my mometum in the face of the transitions on the course and end of the runway. Building a quick lap and having respect for the "polar movements of mass" make this an event a challange, it's as close to driving on a road course that I have tried to date.

As to the location, weather and the time to get there, "It is what it is". You will be at 4500 feet in something like Big Bear or Fontana. On the same day.

See you at the Dow Villa.
