I don't know about smooth, but that big grin on your face tells me you were having a good time. ;)

It was actually pain, in anticipation of what dumb thing Ekstrand would say when I got back home and posted the video.

Where did you finally find a replacement battery that would fit?

Well, apparently you were "smooth" enough to win! Congratulations, Bill!

However, more importantly, how did you find the concrete surface at Lincoln? Have to change your set-up much on the car?

Sorry, Mako, for not getting back to you on that.

And THANK YOU, Mako, for helping me out on the road to get it!! I wound up getting it from these guys in Denver: http://www.portablepower.com/. They have the most amazing customer service I've ever seen. Since I was going to get to Denver after they were closing, they agreed to drop off the battery @ a Kinkco's nearby. The owner called me from in front of the Kinkco's asking me if I still wanted to do it that way before he left it there w/a note, his cell. phone no. & his business card. About 5 mins. after picking up the battery @ 9:30pm he called and asked if I got it yet, and if not, he'd come by, pick it up (the Kinko's closed @ 10pm) and leave it somewhere else! Man, that's service! I'll be ordering my batteries from them from now on!

Watched a forward facing video of the course.
Looked more enjoyable than Wendover.

Congrats on the Win Bill !!

Really? I disagree, it looked pretty painful in a couple of spots. But then again I love to "eat up the slaloms" and civics really do a great job of that.
It's funny how much my view of a good course has changed, I wish we could go back to lot 8, or be confined to a single runway at El Toro now.
My dream course...20 cone slalom (28-30 paces between cones), some offset gates, some waloms, and a fast finish.

Reviews on SCCA forums seem to be pretty much in line with that, course designer got on and said it didn't turn out like he had planned. Painfull is the term most often used. Didn't mind Wendover myself, good transitional practice.

Wendover killed me on Saturday with the constant back and forth transitions. I was really dragging and weak it showed on course in being perpetually late. My shoulder was screaming. I thought about packing it in. Really thought it was a course I couldn't drive injured. Rested Saturday night and came out fresh Sunday. Drove more aggressive and placed the car better. Time and placing didn't work out so hot, but the driving was better and amazingly the shoulder didn't hurt at all.
