What does this mean????

Post by Jeff Barco »

Last Saturday I took a quick trip out to Paso Robles to take a look at this....
Image
You see, the guy is selling it descently cheap and I figured I could sell the Suby and all the spares and break even. I even worked out a great deal for a T hanger at Whiteman. I have been bouncing around the idea for roughly a week and I'm having a bit of difficulty convincing myself to go for it or pass it up.......

I guess it has been really turnin the gears in the ol brain of mine cause last night I had the strangest dream and I'm not quite sure what it means... Since alot of you were in it, I figured I would ask here.....

Dream starts out kinda like this......

I drive my Suby up to Paso Robles Airport, I get outa my car and the Pitts and the seller are standing right infront of my Suby. Now it starts getting weird... The seller is Schenker. I take no note of the fact that Schenker is selling me a plane and hand him the keys to the Suby, he hands me the keys to the plane. I take off and start flying to Whiteman. The weather starts getting really bad and visibility is close to zero... I can't see anything... Then somewhere in the dream... I woke up and went back to sleep before this part happened... Mako Appears infront of me in a seat that doesn't exist in this Pitts Special (It's a single seater). I ask Mako, how the hell did he get here, he doesn't answer me.. He just looks at me and smiles with this Mako Grin. I keep telling him that he has to get out and that this plane only has one seat.... We talked about something else, but I forget what it was.... I think I woke up again and when I went back to sleep the dream continued.... It started back up with me sitting in the plane on the line ready to go for an autocross run at Cal Speedway. Everyone was there looking at me. I kept waiting for everyone to go about thier business so I could start the run, but nobody was doing anything... Then Max Walks up next to me with Renee on his shoulders. Max gives me a big smile and says, "It's good seeing you again". Renee leans down and says, "Are you ready?" I said, "yes". Then everyone went about thier business. The starters were Henry and Ken Motonishi. Go figure, two starters. They dropped the flag and I pushed the throttle foreward. When the mains came up off the ground, I tried to climb, but couldn't climb any higher than 5 feet it seemed. I was so focused on trying to get it to climb, that I blew past the first slalom, but then decided not to fight it and continued flying the Pitts on the Autocross Course. The course seemed really long and I don't remember finishing it... I woke up again... this time I went into the kitchen and drank some water. The dream was clear as day at that point. It was about 5am, so I went back to bed.... The dream started back up again, this time I was walking back to grid from the motorhome talking to Tom Berry... LOL he had really big moviestar glasses on and I was afraid to ask him why the funny glasses outa fear that I might insult him. As I walked back to where the plane was, I saw Mike Simani standing over Bill Schenker who was under the plane wrenching on something. I looked underneath where Bill was and Toby Larson was there telling Bill to be carefull because the skin on the empenage tears very easy... Bill wouldn't listen, at this point I joined in and was arguing with Bill as well. Bill wouldn't get out from under the plane. Slowly in the dream the skin of the plane started to dissapear and I was left with only crossmembers spars and struts... I told Bill that I want my car back. And he gave me the Blue Miata.... I woke up suddenly when the dog started crying to go out...

LOL, I was afraid to go back to sleep...

If your a spiritual person, you think this is a sign????

LOL>..

I miss you all..

Tom Tanquary needs to see this; he knows about this stuff. This isn't one of your jokes, is it Barco?!

No... I'm dead serious...

And I usually don't remember the details of dreams, but this one I can almost remember all of the details...

I have a sinking feeling it means don't buy the plane.

You know Bill, I read your text in your post and I can hear ya at the same time... Although your wearing a hat slightly askewed and your left sock is yellow with the right one being olive green. Didn't you always try to stay the same saturation when you would wear mismatching socks?

it's tough when the hobbies the obsession
60 hours total time in a S2C. Around 20 in a Extra300 and around 20 in a Zlin262.

I used to own a PA28-140. And traded time in it for time in the ZLin, then the Pitts and lately the Extra. I also worked as a commercial pilot for 3 years, both in part 135 and part 121 ops. My short Aviation Career ended when Trans States Furloughed everyone due to revenue loss post 911.

I have been flying the extra lately, roughly 2 hours a week on average and I'm getting some (very little actually) competition experience as a reserve pilot for a team, but it's frustrating because the owner/pilot never misses an event nor does he really share any practice time. I'm usually sitting in the front with my thumb up my ass as he asks me to watch the accelerometer and let him know how smooth his maneuvers are.

I was thinking about doing amature aerobatics to replace solo as the events are about 10% as often, but I would just be happy at this point flying with a small aero club. Even if the Hobby did turn to an obsesion, which I don't think is possible as I am still happily married, I would probably fly just 2-4 hours per weekend, not all day sat and sun like autocross.

And we always wear Chutes.. LOL

Either way, I'm not an incredibly spiritual person, but this dream was strange.

I thought you all might get a kick outa it anyway... especially the Bill Schenker part...

Jungian psychology is very big on dreams. They believe they are windows into the subconscious. But interpreting them is more an art than a science. The first key to unlocking them is to understand that all characters within the dream are aspects of yourself. Go through the dream and ask yourself what each person means to you. What does Schenker represent? How do you see him? And do that with everyone in there. Those are all aspects of yourself. Renee is asking if you are ready. Who is she to you? What does she represent? Because Bill is taking your plane apart, you need to seriously look at what Bill represents to you. Is there an aspect of you that wants to strip the skin off the plane (your goal)? Dreams are metaphors. They never mean what they seem to on the surface. Once you assign honest attributes to all the characters - and recognize that they are all parts of yourself - the meaning of the dream will become more clear.

Or maybe you just have a bit of undigested spinach stuck in your intestine.

I've always wondered about Tom's Avatar ...

All I know is that Barco is still bumping around the streets of Hollywood in the best STX car in the U.S. ... without being an active part of us. Maybe he doesn't know that you only have to spend a half a day at a Champ event. Stop scaring people ... telling them you were a commercial pilot! (Do you have a photo of yourself in one of those uniforms?)

We miss you Jeff!

Mako,

You have to make me a deal before I post a pic of me with my epellettes or how ever you spell that, and tie.... You have to promise me one thing. That it won't show up all over the web referencing Barco with his tongue out. Better yet I need some blackmail collateral , just to make sure. Yeah, I will get it to ya. It's a 4x6 and neg somewhere in the garage before digi cameras were making everyone a pro photographer.

Happy Mothers day everyone.... !!!!

Hey Tom, :D

Thats really interesting stuff...

So your saying that each person in the dream represents a character trait of me in my eyes? What about each persons involvment in the dream, does that represent my own expectations?

Jeff ... of course ... I wouldn't dis you and a career situation and your first Luv ... flying.

... but you're the one that said that Acrobatic flying was a bit tame compared to being on the constant edge auto crossing. Big 3D flying envelop vs inches from cone after cone.

It is... it's not as chaotic as Solo and winning is really dependent on showmanship and holding a good line for presentation. It's a judged event, so you don't have times or a finish line, it's like a ballet contest without the tutus. But I can only deal with one Chaotic, not two. Solo = Chaotic on the course and at Home for me.. LOL.. I get my fix after just a few hours of Aero...

I got Mothers day stuff to do today, so come wed when I have the day off I will dig through my old slide pages looking for the flying monkey suit. I also have my old security ID with my pic on it. I look like I'm a teen ager... LOL

@ Max

I will, maybe bring the suby out one last time before I decide to sell it.

@ Mako

I have tried to get close to you guys at both Cal Speedway and El Torro, only problem is both location are on the boundry layers of whats called Class Charlie airspace, El torro is in John Waynes Class C and Cal Speedway is in Ontarios Class C. Before I can enter in or anywhere near Charlie airspace I gotta contact the controlling agency and then I'm being tracked on Radar with a hard lower altitude. If I screw around, there is no doubt they will notice it, if not spotted by another aircraft in the airspace.

But if any of you wanna go up sometime gimme a jingle... Just don't eat 3 hours prior.. I will take ya to lunch afterward.

Max u up for it?
