Splitting semantic hairs. As the budget cap rule now stands, Ferrari won't compete 2010. The FIA claims it has 8 teams lined up if the top factories bail, but that's more bluff than anything. One team for sure and several very big maybes.Kristoffer Gjevre wrote:Interesting article, but I think the first paragraph is a misrepresentation about why Ferrari opposes the new regulations, as seen in the statement from Ferrari it is the two tier regulations that is the main issue.Bob Beamesderfer wrote:More in-depth analysis:

http://www.f1complete.com/content/view/12703/900/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The dispute over the Formula 1 budget cap has turned into a full blown crisis, with Ferrari announcing today that it will not enter the Formula 1 World Championship in 2010 unless the budget cap is revoked. This is a rather short-sighted view as without a budget cap there are likely to be several teams going out of business. It remains to be seen whether the other members of the Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) will stand with Ferrari. If they do, then the FIA and the Formula One group have a real problem, as they will have to try to organise a World Championship without suitable entries
the 2010 season will see the introduction of two different sets of regulations based on arbitrary technical rules and economic parameters

The same rules for all teams, stability of regulations, the continuity of the FOTA’s endeavours to methodically and progressively reduce costs, and governance of Formula 1 are the priorities for the future

Ferrari, McClaren, Williams, BMW-Sauber et al are looking largely irrelevant.
As long as Brawn, Red Bull, and Force India play.....

unless they move to kart tracks, i'm not seeing th point of only 6 cars on course. i believe Varsha et all talked about 2 US teams for next year, so your looking at 8 - 10 cars with Toyota if the others bail? i'd hate to see less than 20 cars on the grid.Steve Ekstrand wrote:Ferrari, McClaren, Williams, BMW-Sauber et al are looking largely irrelevant.

I thought it might have been Ellison, but Kurt's right. Larry is just as big a shameless self-promoter as Richard Branson, except he scowls instead of grinning.Kurt Rahn wrote:Ellison never does anything anonymouslySteve Ekstrand wrote:Hmmmm.... Larry Ellison?

I've got no quarrel with Larry, but in the few interviews I've seen with him, he's very serious. Although he doesn't do many interviews.Giovanni Jaramillo wrote:HEY!!!
