From the http://www.solo2.com/minutes/2009_03_CS ... inutes.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There was a lengthy discussion of the possibility of combining Stock classes parallel to SK1 and
SK2 in 2010. Curt Luther, a Stock class driver, provided input as to combining classes.
I would like to learn more about this in case I will be able to run more often in the future in which case I may get R tires (or a different car) as I do not like to run in the SK1 class with the small AS and BS cars.
Has it been discussed here on the forum?

I'm not sure if it has been discussed, but I believe it was largely shot down during the Committee discussion. It's quite unlikely to happen.

Sk1 and Sk2 are two of our most successful classes. Downside is that it means fewer stock classes make it. We have great stock battles though in SS,AS,GS and HS.

PAX is so successful, I wonder if instead of doing an R tired SK1/SK2, what about a Club Sport Index class (CSI). A pax class for the non-Alien members.

Nothing complicated. Just a second pax class with a local competitor theme hence "Club Sport" as opposed to "Primadonna Aliens X'ing".

We get one each in FS, DS, CS, BS, and a half dozen other classes, now you have 10 local level guys going at it in CSI.

I was in favor of exploring the original idea of combining stock classes into two groups ala Sk1 and Sk2. If there is enough interest, we can certainly revive this for next year. My thinking was instead of relatively small stock classes, we could have two larger pax'd classes. I thought people would prefer the additional competition. The majority of reps thought it would be a turn off to the majority of stock class drivers. Steve's idea is basically the same as proposed at the meeting. I don't think it feasible to offer that in addition to the stock classes as they are already pretty thin. We have so many classes it's getting to be like park league sports where everybody gets a trophy. Personally, I'd rather see fewer classes with greater numbers competing in each class.

You can't force it.

There a couple of "OVER MY DEAD BODY" types running those stock classes.

What do you think about excluding anyone who's ever run Nationals? Not Tours or Pros - just Nats.

I kinda like the idea. We float something like this, the people who are looking for ongoing competition can run it, and the people who are comfortable in their regular Stock class with the usual competition are free to run as usual.

I don't see the need for rules other than
No Reigning National Champions
No positive tests for Alien DNA
No car may have shocks whose retail value exceed the average wholesale bluebook value of their car

So you force someone out who went to natls as a tire warmer just to see what it was like?

How does making yet another class help numbers in the ones you already have?

Or is the idea just make everyone a winner?

That's exactly what it is. So?

Its local competition. Just trying to find a competitive out for local guys showing up and being told oh.... "You're DSP. You're the only one in the class. Have fun." Or "hey look Richard James in FS... New definition for solo competition."

Maybe a trophy at Nationals puts you in PAX Sr. otherwise you can play in PAX Jr.

I like that better, but.....

But I'm not sure I like rules....

They don't tell Ken Schrader he can't run a Winston West event. They don't ban Tony Stewart out of Nationwide.

I like ridicule and sneering if Schenker tries to run it.
