26th to 4th in one lap....

ok either everyone on the track bites, or this car does not belong on the track with the others.

A quote from one of the gals in the office that races with him: "Here is the start of a recent SCCA ITA race at Watkins Glen. This guy (Greg Amy) is one of the top drivers in the NER. I don't know him personally but I've been on the track with him at test days and his track manners are impeccable. He had a lousy qualifying run for the race so he wound up pretty far back in the pack for the start. He went on to win the race and set the track record."

That was hairy!!! :o
From the comments:
It's called reverse grid. Makes for a real race. Why bother keeping everyone in near the same position for the entire race when you can use reverse grid? Racing is all about passing unless you're into time trials.
...
The drivers name is Dean Evans and he is a motoring magazine writer,oh and a bloody good driver by the look of it :D
...
Dean drove me in my own Lotus Elise YESTERDAY around Eastern Creek raceway Sydney, man he's a great driver and after near 10 laps he got me to shave around 4 seconds off my laptime!

Don't know the name of this track, but recognize it from some racing game I have.

Gotta watch just for the for the transmission audio track! Those tire barriers at the apex point's look awfully scary to me!

You want to see pissed off... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbZxibgr ... annel_page" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; At 3:26 Philip - in his ITA Miata - leaves the door open and he gets owned by me in a SSC Sentra. :lol: I felt bad for him and let him by at 7:39, he is not in my class so I did not need to race him. :thumbup: The Nissan handles great on the straits. :unimpressed:

I think he has a hard time pressing the pedal with his heels on. :lol: No, his story is that he was laying back to get a good run out of that turn in an effort to catch the other Miata, not thinking I would do anything because I am in a different class - lesson learned for him. :thumbup:

If you want the complete story, here's Saturday's race:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbZxibgry5o" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Sunday's race tells an even better story:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgltCb84iZ4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The only time I saw Jason during Sunday's race was at the start (he was a couple rows behind me). I guess he used all of his guts the day before, because he was so far behind me all race I was expecting to lap him.

I was checking out that Sentra with Philip at the Pro. Its a cool project. Relatively low buck way into club racing. Looks like a blast.
I thought Jason was driving it lot better than your typical vette road racer.

Little bit impressed he can see over the steering wheel. }:)

Peter Cunningham raced a Sentra in WC Touring. When asked about the car, Peter said (not on camera), "Its still a Sentra."

A hole in the floor is just as effective as the windshield.

NICE!

(Where did you find the photo? When Karen did her NASA track day, I was told I couldn't take photos because they had two contracted companies providing coverage. But then ... we could never get the information as to where we could find the photos?! The NASA official that emailed me that I couldn't shoot won't reply to my messages.)

DE Baer shoots most all of the Cal Club road race stuff... I don't know what other events he does.

I don't know about NASA, but with SCCA at Auto Club Speedway you can just cross over the bridge to the center portion of the track and shoot through the cutouts in the fence. The NASA folks may want you to buy photos from their contracted shooters, but I can't imagine they're going to stop you from taking pics of someone you know once you're at the track (the whole forgiveness vs. asking permission rule). I wouldn't cross any public fence...but at that speedway, the difference between the media cutouts and the public fence is about 3 feet. But like I said, I don't know NASA. They may enforce this type of rule.
