Carter there is a group of us that go up every Sunday. We know the cops on a first name basis. We meet in front of the Sports Chalet and leave promptly at 7:30 am. This way we avoid traffic and cops. Bunch of Saab Sonnets and a few Z Cars.

Just curious Art if by knowing the cops they cut you any slack on aggressive driving? Did they give you hints on the safe time to drive? What time do serious patrols start on the highway?

Just please stay on your side of the line. I'm also a member of bike group that runs that road regularly, but I haven't done it with them yet since my bike is broken. Although they try to schedule weekday rides as much as possible to avoid traffic and cops. It 's a sportbike group that strongly promotes safe riding so as a group anyway you won't see them do dumb stuff.

No they don't cut us any slack. But since they see us almost every Sunday and know that we usually don't exceed the speed limit by more than 5mph that we usually are very safe they don't look at us very hard. Primarily they are on the watch out for bikes. The nice thing about AC is that you can drive aggressivly without being reckless.

Rick we almost never cross the center except to pass bikes. Wanna be bikers are often the slowest drivers.

I've been doing this for the last 4 years easily over a hundred trips up the mountain, got only one ticket and I beat it.
