Re: Sept FasTrack
Finally Robert
After reviewing member comment, the PAC has recommended an amended version of the previously-published proposal to
permit some kit cars in XP, as follows:
- The following cars to be classed in XP with allowances restricting the minimum engine size (and therefore minimum weight):
- Noble
- M12
- M12GTO
- M400
- All with minimum engine size 2.9L with forced induction or 4.1L normally aspirated.

They will be very busy... As any ST/SP/SM car that has removed an OE brace is protest bait. ;)Bob Beamesderfer wrote:Don't worry Jason, the protest committee at Nationals can make up the clarification ... *catruleCOUGH* }:)Jason Isley BS RX8 wrote:Wow. At this point the SEB and SAC still do not consider the car to be an overdog in its US configuration, and the intention is to
classify it in SS as of 1/1/2010. (ref. 09-382, 09-398, 09-420)

Actually it's probably a good thing to put off classing it until next year....Although I really wanted to see what would happen if someone showed up with an R8 and mopped up.
Re: Sept FasTrack
So I haven't seen any mention for a while of the potential move of the Mini Cooper S from GS to DS. In April, it said they were going to recommend it to the board, but I've seen nothing since then. Does that mean it's a rubber stamp/done deal? When does the board vote on rules that would take effect on 1/1/10?

Re: Sept FasTrack
It's a very nimble car. It was noticeable through the tight 1st-4th corner complex on Cal Speedway's road course. Better than the M3, 135i and Evo X MSR.Sebastian Rios wrote:Bending to the will of the membership??? STILL? You just sent that letter in July. When you were on the SEB how many items went from letter to Fastrack in less than 6 weeks?Jason Isley BS RX8 wrote:Wow. Still no clarification on the strut tower brace rule, which effects, ST/SP/SM.
Why would someone remove a stock (triangulated, usually) strut bar anyway?

Last thing I read on that move in FasTrack, months ago, said it was a done deal for 2010.Kurt Rahn wrote:So I haven't seen any mention for a while of the potential move of the Mini Cooper S from GS to DS. Re: Sept FasTrack
The information I was told is this issue was bigger than a clarification, and would require a rule change, but something would be in the next FT. The fact that this was not a cut and dry issue, and had to move into the realm of a potential rule change should concern anyone in who has removed a stock brace. *other than those who can do it via update/backdate in SP/SM.Eric Clements wrote:STILL? Who said anything about triangulated? I would just love to remove a piece of dead weight from an A Arm car, that does not need it, and that makes it difficult to adjust my shocks.

Re: Sept FasTrack
I am fairly certain it was never the intent of the rule to only allow cars that did not come with a bar to install one. However, the way it is currently worded there is no allowance for removal, or even replacement of a stock bar. With natls coming up this seems like a potentially big problem for a number of classes. People may have ditched the OE bar years ago, and having run natls that way in the past never thought it was an issue.Eric Clements wrote: That makes sense. Seems like the R8 has a relatively long wheel base ... and would be like the NSX ... better on a road course then an AX course?

I've never seen an NSX on our autoX courses (over my vast 1.5 years of experience), but I've seen planty of 'Vettes. An R8 is kickin' my butt:Mako Koiwai wrote:OK ... Acura NSX:

Re: Sept FasTrack
Tom T. use to run a NSX. He told me that it's wheel base was too long for AX.
The NSX Club had an AX a few years ago. Six of us CSCC drivers went to it. None of the NSX's topped our times. Some of us were pretty green. Tom probably would have beat us, but his NSX broke down. I think he sold it a short time after that.

And gearing. The NSX seemed to be forever in 1st gear when I autocrossed it.
I would love a shot at trying out an R8 in SS. Hmm....
