S2000 Alignment Settings

Post by Timothy Aing »

Hey everyone!

I've been trying to determine what alignment setting works best for a stock AP2 s2000 as I'm not particularly satisfied with the last two alignments I've received. Would anyone be so kind as to share what specs work for them, or is this top secret information? :)

What does it matter?

With whatever you did to make your car that dirty, I can't imagine any alignment would hold!

What does it do that you don't like?

I would be happy to share my settings with you Tim. I just can't remember what they are. But here's a guess where to start. Full negative camber on the front. Full negative camber on the rear. 1/8 out in front, 1/8 - 1/4 in in the rear. max caster.

Or you can refer to someone who knows what they are talking about. S2KI forums, under racing and competition, autox set-up.

For a loose RWD car, that all sounds right to me, especially the 1/4 in for rear toe. Front camber set before caster.

I run a little bit less toe-in at the rear than George otherwise the same....key is max camber.....but haven't checked the alignment in a long time. Set it up something like that and then fine tune to your desires after that.....

Or you could go on S2k forums and get all kinds of conflicting information .... }:)

Awesome. Thanks for the tips guys!

Yes, the car has about 5-6 autox events worth of dirt and conage on it. :D I may finally wash the car considering at the last event, I got hassled at site entry, almost didn't pass tech inspection, received recommendations for car soap at grid, and at the start line was told I could probably save a half second on course if the car was actually clean. I'm surprised my time slips didn't have "WASH ME" written on them :)

I'll be sure to let my alignment guy know to max out the camber and caster settings next time I see him. And I'll start with tighter toe settings and feel it out. Are these settings also recommended for the AP2s which are not as tail happy?

Oh, and I propose our region start offering on-site car washes at events to help raise more money. I know of at least one person who may be interested..

I was just concerned that dirt might fly off on course and blind workers. Safety first!
