Re: Team Challenge?
Well, originally it was this:
-Pick 5 team members plus an alternate (replaces someone who does not show)
-Team must be submitted to Reg prior to first team member running (not prior to the event starting as it was later printed)
-Smack talk as much as possible.
That was it. I'm sure it became more complicated as time went by.......

Re: Team Challenge?
And what exactly do these team members do? Race for some kind of placement I assume.

Re: Team Challenge?
The Team Challenge team that each club has the opportunity to pick for each event, is scored by how many points they earn in their classes. The total points earned for the five members is what the club earns for that event. Each events points total is added together at the end of the year and a team challenge trophy is presented at the banquet to the team with the highest number of points. I post the individual club team members points, the event totals for each team and running totals for each team after each event. And what exactly do these team members do? Race for some kind of placement I assume.
This is different from the Team Points which is calculated from the overall PAX results. With this competition, the best five overall PAX finishers from each team are added together to come up with the team points. This happens automatically using the best five finishers based on their PAX time. This has nothing to due with the PAX class.
In the Team Challenge, the club gets to pick the five members that they think have the best chance of finishing highly in their class. There is a chance of scoring 500 points for the club if all five members win their classes and get 100 points each. With theTeam Points, only the first place overall PAX finisher will earn 100 points. Everyone after him/her will score something less depending on how close they finish to the winners PAX time.
One additional clarification to Ricks explanation of the rules, the Novice class is not included when calculating Team or Team Challenge points. Starting last year the kids cart class is included for Team and Team Challenge points.
