Yeah, there were some people on the west course that got in runs before the deluge hit. That storm moved from east to west, and I also think that the residual heat in the course helped the first few drivers have dry runs. I agree, rain tires didn't help most after the amount of rain that fell in that short amount of time. There was no where for all that water that fell so quickly to go. Growing up in Florida, I've seen my share of rainstorms.
