indoor karting in the IE

Hey guys. Long time no see to many of you that I remember from my autocrossing alma mater.

Seems that there are a few new indoor karting tracks that have popped up in the IE over the past couple of years. Since I'm going to be in the area for family stuff over the next couple of weeks, I just wanted to get the scoop on which ones have the best tracks, best karts, etc. I've heard good things about Fastlap in Mira Loma but wanted to get firsthand opinions from CSCC folks who have been.

Hey Gautham,

Good to hear from you. I hope everything is going well. Still doing autox?

I've been to Fast Lap several times and had a good time. K-1 is also nearby. The karts seem comparable as far as speed goes. Fast Lap is gas, K-1 is electric. Both are a lot of fun. They are so close, you could easily do both the same day.

BTW, K-1 sends out emails promoting "buy one lap, get one free". I have just mentioned the emails and gotten the deal. It's worth a try.

A number of people are putting together an entire day of karting at the big track at CA Speedway ... using their rental carts. It's going to be something like $208 for 25 drivers ... $125 non-refundable downpayment. Jan. 31st. Barco and I tried out their carts once ... not bad ... faster then your usual indoor track rental. That track is pretty cool. Looks pretty flat, but the downhill section is quite apparent in a kart.

Jeff and I going at it tooth and nail ... me trying to keep up that is, which I did.

If your ever in town for during an event weekend, and I'm not out of town working, there's always a seat in my car for you (STS Miata now).

Mako, Ok, is that "$208 for 25 drivers" as quoted.... or "$208 for 25 drivers" each (potentiality implied, but not stated). If it's the former... I'm in if there's space! If it's the latter, I'm interested, but not sure I can pull together the finances. Keep me in the loop, again if space.

Yea, but don't forget you have to use/risk your own vehicle at a track day. Karts, fuel, tires, service are all provided. Arrive and drive don't come cheap!

For that, you could do a half day at Jim Hall and get instruction as well.

The half day intro class at Jim Hall's IS a great value. You'll be happy to be done at noon ... and then the next day you're going to be sore.

Couple years ago I did a kart day (karts included) at Moran Raceway which was an awesome track. If I remember correctly it was super long (~1 mile) and they had a corner like the Corksrew.

At the end of the day, you have a team of 4 drivers and do a 12 lap enduro. Rolling starts are crazy! Amazing time. Costed ~$175 each for a large group of us. Unfortunately the track is closed now.

Too close to town (Beaumont). My understanding was the property was worth too much to keep it as a track. Supposedly Rocky Moran is going to build another one in the area.

That's real estate for ya. He sold the land for a good buck he ought to be able to create another well-regarded track.
