Like others posted above, several ways exist to get to the Fleet Manager, Internet Sales Dept, but also Costco referral, AAA referral. While the Internet source is typically pretty good, you still have some haggling room, this could be good or bad as some offers are better than the following.

With Costco and AAA the price is negotiated by Costco & AAA, it's fixed at a percent or $ amount over, and sometimes under dealer invoice (not MSRP). Unfortunately that's not the end though.... there are some "advertising reimbursement" charges, and an item or two more, but Costco discloses their existence thought the $ varies from make to make. The thing I was surprised by though is that the negotiated price does vary from dealer to dealer even within the same make. So it still pays to shop around. Many of the dealers that were on Costco's list were also on AAA's list. Some places the Costco price was lower, some places the AAA price was better. We had every Fleet manager show us both, and worked from the lower of the two.

I bought the Jetta via Costco back in 2002, had the dealer find one that meet every option etc. that I wanted with the exception of color, and had it shipped in from the port in Houston, from the unallocated stock. Unfortunately the only one in the entire country meeting all my wants and color was in New Jersey, and the dealer there would not let it go. PLUS, I didn't (or wouldn't have if we got the NJ car) have paid any extra for the shipping.

Really, you're already paying $500-$600 back then in destination charges. These days it's $750 and up.

Note the word "extra"! for a car already at it's destination in NJ?

Mako Koiwai wrote:So you think Kurt would have won SK2 by 1.5 seconds with "proper" ST tires? How do you explain his times, first time out with a completely stock mini? Adrian would have beat him with his stock Mini w/ ST tires if he hadn't coned his last run ... but he's been running and winning with his Mini for quite a while now.
We'll find out soon. My XMas present is a new set of Star Specs ;)

Test drove a WRX (non-STi) tonight. She really liked it and we are leaning to this car now. In Blue.

What stock class does it ru?n in? DS? Not the same class as the STi right?

That was a close second choice for me. I really liked that car, and if I wasn't going to use it for autocross, I'd have gotten it instead.

I picked up a Mica Blue 2010 WRX 5 door this weekend. Nice little car. We may run it some on DS just for fun.

I am surprised at how peppy it is.

:D

245/40 Star Specs ... and take every bit of camber that you can get out of those front camber bolts!
