When one got it just right ... the feeling of speed maintenance was very satisfying ... so I heard.
I'm uploading the first of the videos ... first of the first run group on Sunday ... interesting to see different lines. Link up soon ...

I was having trouble through that section because my tires were pretty hot entering into larger angled turns. FWD FTLMako Koiwai wrote:When one got it just right ... the feeling of speed maintenance was very satisfying ... so I heard.![]()

I liked Sunday better, even though I was only .3 different. Probably because I drove like dog poo both days.Did anyone else that ran Sat and Sun feel that Sat's course was more "fun" then Sunday, even though I designed the course for Sunday? Sunday was very speed maintenance imho, while Sat's course required more braking, etc ... seemed more varied.

Makes 2 of us! I only came for a couple ride-alongs on saturday, then sunday didn't make the first course walk but did make the after lunch one. Between the ride-alongs saturday and sunday coursewalk it flowed really easy. Only a couple places I got caught out and just reframed on a few places I wasn't looking far enough.
great course! Flowed well, lots of sweeping sections/good links between sections.

I didn't drive on sunday, but went to the practice on saturday, which was one of my favorite courses of all the span I've been going to autox's (3 years). But, yeah I agree that it seems that the course backwards(sun) would seem less technical I believe and wouldn't be as fun. Either way, great job on course design!

First Video Clips UP: http://makofoto.blip.tv/
I'm uploading them in chronological order ... (Sunday first) ... first run group.
Rez is slightly lower then the Casio we were using in the past. The really cool thing is to watch the full size files on a big screen TV. I can probably make the files available to down load from my Apple FTP type site. If someone wants to try that, let me know.

Re: Wrap-Up and Thank You
I'd like to say Thank you to all the Event Coordinators and others who helped my son Jordan and I this past weekend. This was our first participation in a Practice /Championship Event and we had a blast. Everyone was Welcoming, Encouraging and very patient while my son and I stumbled and plodded our way through the system and course. A special thanks goes to George Schilling for helping us register and then encouraging us to hang in there while we were on the practice waiting list. To Karen/Carol(?) as I blew past the entry gate early Saturday morning not realizing THAT's where the process begins. To Leonard Cachola for both the excellent Novice course walk and then later hooking us up with Tom Berry. And of course to Tom Berry for giving up so much of his race time to teach Jordan and I what our high mileage Z28 can really do at the hands of a talented driver. Priceless! The Z was definitely breathing hard after those runs - totally awesome.
We also met many new friends(Ozzie & his Dad, Jeff, Leonard, Daniel, Kevin, and many more I don't remember by name) and people willing to give us rides in their cars.
Thanks again and looking forward to seeing you all at the next event.

Re: January 9/10/10 Wrap Up (Photos/Video)
I liked both Saturday's and Sunday's courses. Thought Saturday's was a little bit more difficult to drive and also had a huge bump in the back, felt like I was in a rally car.
It was also a good test of the Toyo R1R's on my car. I heard they weren't so good on heavy cars (mine is 3200lbs + driver). But from this weekend's results, they did really well. I don't think I have ever done this well at an event in a long time.

I worked the far west section by the bump in the first run group on Sunday and a lot of car were bouncing and scraping front spoilers/splitters there... did not seem to affect me much on my runs... heard some say there was no bump if you used a certain line...Tin Bui wrote:I liked both Saturday's and Sunday's courses. I think staying further to the right was smoother. We spent a lot of time looking for the smoothest part of that area. We made a number of changes Friday and Saturday trying to find the smoothest area. In the future we just have to completely avoid that area.
I wonder if the spd wy would let us do out own concrete patching ... like the San Diego clubs did at Qualcomm?

I tried extending the GoPro HD arm a bit ( camera more away from the window ) to keep the A piller from being in the picture, the camera bounced around a bit. I guess use what GoPro comes with.... my set up made the camera shake.

Sunday course was definitely a blast! With the warm weather there was definitely some serious grip out there. IMO I thought the course flowed quite well, with the exception of those lovely pumps going through the back slalom. Gotta feel for those karters!

Agreed about the bumps in the back kinked slalom - I really feel we need to avoid that area in the future.

Re: January 9/10/10 Wrap Up (Photos/Video)
Yeah, first run I went flat out (hadn't walked but watched someone's video). Ouch! Hitting a bump that big while turning made for pain and loss of control for a moment. 2nd and 3rd runs I found myself wincing and lifting slightly right before I hit it. Sucks to have to lift because of a bump. But otherwise, I really enjoyed the course.Ron Tsumura wrote:Hard to be aggressive when you know you are about to go air-borneBill Schenker wrote:Only ran Sunday (the 1 1/2 F125 runs don't count as I had NO idea what I was doing! lol) and thought it ran very well.Matt Ellam wrote:Sunday course was definitely a blast! Conversely, the bump helped us realize we did not have enough rebound in the shocks
