Helpful iPhone/iPod Touch apps for Solo

Post by Dan Shaw »

Found a few apps that may help a lot if you own an iPhone or iPod Touch.

iPax: Class Index calculator to compare times with other people in other classes.
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ipax/id308843678?mt=8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Cross Weight: Should be self-explanatory. Punch in the weights of each corner and it calculates all of the relevant measurements. It can store multiple profiles in case you have multiple vehicles.
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cross-we ... 18962?mt=8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

if I come up with a few more I'll post but for now those are the most useful. :) If you find an app you like tho post it here!

I think ChaseCam will be coming out with something kind of cool.

G-Tac has a free app that features a G-meter. MaxQ Data has a free app that will plot the course for you(provided you have GPS. They also do sell a GPS unit for the iPod Touch users. Only $450- ouch).

i went ahead and bought it. i'll just put the shock settings in the tire temp fields until he get's it worked out. Maybe with my extra $5, he'll feel inclined to update it sooner rather than later.

The free app is pretty inaccurate. Don't know if the pay version is better or not.

I've always been a little sketched out about the g-sensing apps. Can't say how accurate the accelerometer is in this thing and I prefer a bit more accuracy. There's always ben a lingering sense that apps like that are for bench racers who like to show off. "dood my 0-60 beats a (insert exotic)!!". :roll:

You mean they're finally dumping AT&T and hooking up Verizon? ;)

I was using it when testing a car at work. It seemed to be giving the same results the engineers had with their test equipment.

That would be nice, although AT&T's signal is much improved from four years ago.

Yeah, except for at my house. Or in my office. Or my lab. But if I go outside and walk across the parking lot, then stand on the fire hydrent, I can almost make a call.

Considering the US is way behind in cell infrastructure, IMO you're stuck with crappy service either way. The standards used elsewhere are several years ahead of the US.

I've never been to a country where the cell phone infrastructure is good, so I have no frame of reference. But my wife's phone (iPhone/AT&T) often has little or no signal in places where mine (Driod/Verizon) gets great reception.

Other than here in my office, (where wifi, bluetooth, RF, wireless security cams, 5.8ghz phones, are fighting for supremacy) my phone works everywhere---Verizon/Blackberry!!! Even at Packwood ask Steve Ekstrand!!

AT&T is way behind, they do not believe that anyone would use a MOBILE phone outside the city limits of LA, NY, or any other of the largest 50 cities in America.... What profit would AT&T make by providing cell service to the suburbs of Butte or Casper....
