body/paint shop in OC?

Post by Jason Isley BS RX8 »

Nothing fancy, just need a base coat of white on our race car. Any recommendations for places in OC?

Had the BMW painted here http://orangenorthbatavia.maaco.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; last year for $750.00. Not showcar quality but good enough for a race car. Took about 3 days.

Did you prep it before you brought it in?

I'm a fan of Riteway Auto Paint in Fountain Valley:

http://www.ritewayautopaint.com/

They have a very large selection of orange paints if you ever change your mind. }:)

I reviewed & took pictures of some of the process too:

http://www.bewbews.com/category/cars-ca ... experience

I'm probably going to bring a few more pieces for them to paint in the next couple of months once they are test-fitted.

I've always had good luck with Macco. Should be cheap and good enough for a race car spray.

Was probably overspray. It was black by the time I got it - from what I remember.

Yes, I did all the prep except sanding, but the price did include the door jambs.

I've used Safelite twice and been very satisfied with both the price and the work done. You can schedule an appointment online or by phone and they come to where ever you are and do the job. http://www.safelite.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or 800-800-2727

Call Eddie with Hanson Auto Glass, 949-four five four-6177. I think he's done three windshields on Mikes M3 :)

I have used Eddie for two windshields in the Expedition, and a rock chip, good service and price.

I asked him about non-OE windshields being lighter, and he said it was not true, the clarity is not as good and they are just as heavy.

Using thinner glass for the windshield and backlight (rear window) on the C5 Z06 saved 5.7lbs over the standard C5 glass. So thinking that any meaningful gain could be had by simply using a lesser quality piece is a bit optimistic. Ask the installer not to glue it in and you would likely save more weight.
