Post by George Schilling »

Here's the guest list for the upcoming CASOC Spring Picnic - BBQ - Test n Tune on March 27 at El Toro Fields. Please check back frequently if you are on the standby list. With only a few days left, now is the time I will receive the most cancellations. The standby list is the last list in this post.

Cancellations must be received by Thursday midnight, March 25, in order to receive a refund if we are unable to fill your spot.

To have a successful event with enough workers to cover course, we need a minimum of 100 entrants. Please check-in by 8:15 AM on the day of the event or email /call to make other arrangements. Open spots will go to standbys beginning at 8:20 AM.

Wow, that's a long list! Didn't expect it to fill up w/ a waiting list this early.

Looks like Klossof, Oliver won't be making this practice :(

Hmmm...looks like I didn't get in, as well as a few people I know who sent in their checks right when the flyer came out. Were there that many entries in the first few days?

Thanks!

Same goes for a bunch of NASIOC Suby folks who said the responded right away. I'm telling them to come out on Sunday ... and if there are Fun Runs and they do X runs, they can actually get as many runs as a practice day ... for less money!

Sorry guys. This practice event is a bit different as it serves two purposes. Unlike the other practices held so far this year, this one is a club practice put on by CASOC. Club members and invited guests take priority for this one and unfortunately for those left off the initial list, the demand was very high. This is also a test n tune event for the upcoming Pro Solo to be held here in April. Those who are entered in the Pro also were given priority consideration.

One way to increase you chances for any of our practices is to become a points card holder and participate in the Sunday Championships. The best way of course, is to be a contributor by helping at events including setting up and cleaning up. Always make sure we know who you are when you volunteer.

Since there will undoubtedly be some cancellations, if you are an SCCA member, points card holder, and are entered in the upcoming PRO and failed to mention that with your entry, please sent a PM and you will be given priority when a spot opens up. The other spots will be awarded based on when the entry was received.

If you are on the entry list and have to cancel for any reason, please do so ASAP. We have many people who'd like to join us for this event.

Larry,

You can still get a good bit of driving time on Sunday. We sell Time Only runs - so you don't have to run in a specific group - as well as X runs, which are a second set of runs for $25 for which you don't have to work a second session.

6 runs in the day, under Championship conditions, should help you improve your driving *and* give that adrenaline rush we all like.

Be on site early if you'd like to buy X or TO runs. They are rationed to maintain good rungroup balance.

I'm still firming the list up. I've moved a few people up on the list that have sent PMs that they are SCCA members, points card holders and are entered in the Pro Solo. The rest will be in the order received. I'll post it by Friday.

Also, there are a few people who may be dropped from the entry list for lack of payment. I'm expecting some changes.

So as things are settled down with the entry list. Can we chat about what we are going to have on the test and tune side?

Slalom
-even spaced?
-increased spacing?
-decreasing spacing?

Skid Pad
-circle (preferred for testing camber and tire temps)
-figure 8 more for fun and laughs

thoughts?

Here's what we did last year:

10 cone slalom @55' intervals
8 cone slalom @69' intervals
skid pad - diameter determined by runway width

What exactly is the BBQ portion of this Test and Tune on the 27th? What time is the BBQ, and what do we need to bring?

I am on the waiting list, but would not be able to accept a placement, due to a family medical issue.

Even spaced makes more sense for testing.

Don't spend too much time in the same direction on the skidpad aka bearing killer.

Waiting list is posted already? Or you are on it because you mailed your check in and don't see your name on active entries?
