So Cal Rallycross needs a 2nd Saftey Steward

Post by Dave Haws »

Hey guys and gals, what's up? I am running a Rallycross at the Glen Helen Motorsports park on April 3rd and 4th. Jayson Woodruff and Bret Norgaard are my acting Saftey Stewards for Sat April 3rd. For Sunday April 4th, Bret Norgaard will be there again, but Jayson can't because of family commitments. I wanted to see if any of the Solo Stewards wanted to come out on Sunday to cover for Bret when he is racing. You would not need to be there all day, only for the afternoon runs when Bret is competing. If anyone is willing to do this, it would be a HUGE help as there are not enough Rallycross Saftey Stewards right now (I am working on becoming one myself for future events). Best way to contact me is via email or my cell phone. Thanks in advance.

Glen Helen I: “Follow the White Rabbit” April 3-4, 2010

Rev it up for an Easter weekend of racing! Why hunt for eggs when you can tear up the dirt? Glen Helen I is going to be another epic weekend of Rally X action. Why? Because the Triple Chase format is back, that’s why. For those of you not in the know, the Triple Chase features you against two others on the same course to produce close competition and intense thrills!

There are some big changes in 2010 for Glen Helen. The first and biggest change is that both the GH races this year are going to be 2 day events. Saturday is going to be a practice day (no event timing provided) and Sunday is race day. GH is featuring 6 laps on race day instead of the traditional 4. This means more seat time for you! Entries capped at 45 to ensure everyone gets the 6 laps. The pricing structure has also changed for 2010.

Race Entry Fee’s: $80 Day of / walk up

Practice Day: $10 / lap or $40 for 5 laps
(One free lap for CRS or SCCA members who pre reg + pre pay for race day)

Pre reg is now CLOSED.

Note: This is an SCCA sanctioned and insured event. As such, you must be an SCCA member to participate.

For the practice day, cash is king. No checks or Paypal accepted

Prizes

In the event of a sell out, the 1st place winner of each class will be awarded $60 CASH!! Minimum 4 competitors per class.

Sparco (http://www.sparcousa.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) will provide a small prize for the winner (or 2nd place if we sell out) for each class. Thanks Sparco!!

OVERNIGHT CAMPING WILL BE AVAILABLE

This is a 1st at Glen Helen. Since this is a two day event, camping will be available for people who want to stay on-site. The best part of the deal that the camping is FREE!! Yup, that right…..nada, zip, zero, zilch. Camping will be in the pits, so please don’t spread out too much. (Map of location coming soon).

Camping Rules:

1.) Don’t Litter!! Pack out what you pack in.
2.) Hibachi grills / small bbq’s are OK
3.) No open fires….sorry.
4.) Be kind to your neighbors. You know….don’t play loud music until 3am or piss on their tent after you had too many beers!

SCHEDULE:

Saturday

Gates Open @ 8am

Open practice from 9am - 4pm*

* No event timing. If you want to be timed, bring a stopwatch and a friend

Sunday

7am - 8:30am: Registration and Tech for Street Stock and Mod classes
8:45am: Drivers Meeting for Street Stock and Street Mod classes
9am - 11am: Street Stock Two and Four (street mod works)
11am - 1:30pm: Street Mod Two and Four (street stock works)
1:30pm - 1:45pm: Registration and Tech for Rally Two and Four
1:45pm: Drivers meeting for Rally Class
2pm to 5pm: Rally Two and Four (work for each other)

Please note that this is a “run and work” event. You are required to work at least once. Work duties include: shagging downed cones on course, timing control or other jobs. If you do not work, your times will NOT be counted. There will be a Volunteer Steward (Chris Walker) to organize the workers and record who did / did not work.

Work schedule:

Street Mod works for Street Stock and vice versa. Rally Four works for Rally Two and vice versa.

That looks like a lot of flippin' fun! Can't do Easter as I have kids who still believe in the Easter Bunny, but I definitely have to try that soon.
