FS: 99 Miata engine

Post by Casey Brier »

For sale is my 1999 Miata Engine.
We are about to move up to the 01 engine.
It has been dynoed at 130 H.P. on the initial tune, (the "lets get it running tune".) Im sure its gone up as we have "perfected the Tune" since, but I have no proof of anything over 130 h.p.
engine runs strong, I have no reason to suspect any problem. its simply time to upgrade. :gpower:

The last race on this engine will be on the 28th in El Toro. your welcome to come hear/see it run.

Price is $1,000 comes with super cool painted intake manifold and valve cover!

oh oh, there is one small thing to mention. it has a TINY oil leak. looks to me that its front main seal. I never bothered changing it as it really is that small of a leak. what I'm getting at, is after having the car sit in the garage between races, I will find dime size oil spot on the ground.

It's a 99 from a NB? Mileage? Stock/modified? Rebuilt or no?

stock 1999 engine
comes with stock 99 pulley (keeping aftermarket pulleys)
I dont remember the exact milage, I do remember it was pretty low. I belive it was right arond 50k. I'll try to find the exact milage.
since I got it, I have put only 300 miles on it.)
you would need to get a flywheel and clutch as I am keeping those as well. :-) (aftermarket)

I hope I answered everything! :computer:

Ironic you bumped and I have an update. I have a buyer for my motorcycle and will have cash in hand for the motor on Tuesday of next week. Assuming all goes well I would love to hear it at el toro this coming weekend and could pay for it then as well.

Congrats on the 01 swap! Have you figured out the variable timing setup?

see you Sunday! (I run CSP, which runs in the morning. I'm in the BLUE miata.)
I think we have the VVT figured out. I am running the AEM Race unit. the friend of mine that knows AEM very well said its no problem. (he is the guy that wired it in, and tuned it)

Hey, was reading up on the build thread and saw there was a valve cover swap on the engine? Do you remember the deal with that , or at least know if it's possible to put it back to stock?

Thanks.

the valve cover swap is what YOU would have wanted. I used to run the 94-97 valve cover. how it has the correct 99 valve cover on it.

In order to get 130+ hp I'm assuming it has after market engine management?

yes it does. that 150 was made using an aftermarket ECU on its mayden tune. we have since fine tuned it. (now it would be a guess what the rating is.)

cool parts included pulleys, flywheel, exhaust..... that is.
