SoPac Divisional

Post by John Fendel »

Following the last instruction on the special announcement box to click on the TIRERACK SoPac Divisional announcement for information about the divisional just enlarges the announcement box. There is no banner for the divisional on the Solo2 web site.

Going to the Forums and clicking on the banner there does nothing at all.

Have these links not been programed yet? At the moment it is frustrating and confusing.

Not much more to say yet other that this will be happening and reserve the dates. Information will be posted on these forums as they become finalized. Initial plans are to run it very similar to a tour only with cash payouts. Plan on coming.......it will be fun. :gpower:

Can't exactly make the link work before someone makes the post with the info. Sounds like the other announcement was just premature.

There aren't any other ones this year, just us.

If you're blind as a bat, I'm sure everyone has seen the image logo on the forums, as well as on the main Solo2.com site. I also added it to the "NEWS and ANNOUNCEMENTS" and stickied it.

Yes and I wonder who chose to put THAT particular car as opposed to say an Evo? :D Not that I'm complaining (as BMW owner and PSCC member)!

Okay, in the meantime, can somebody clue me and the other newbies in as to what a 'Divisional' is. Is it a national event? Regional? What makes it unique? Why should I care?.... Okay, it's track time, so scratch the last one. :D

Basically it's equivalent to a National Tour, except the regions within the division put on the event as opposed to the "national" staff, and also all proceeds from the event go to the host region (in this case Cal Club). The difference between the divisional and a "regional' event is that there is contigency money doled out by sponsors (similar to a "national" type of event).

Also if you care....the competition is much more intense similar to a national event unlike your local regional event, though considering our region which is highly competitive, you'll see the out-of-towners that are competitive from within our division.

Others can chime as to what other differences there are besides what I've mentioned above.

So basically it's a big regional event that runs with a National Tour format and contingency support, but doesn't count for national points? Right?

If one plans on going to Nationals, you have to compete in a national level event (like the SD Tour) or pay a waiver fee. A divisional also counts. Can be a good alternative for people that don't live near any of tour locations. We are hoping to develop a Divisional series so there are several events within the region where you do earn points for a Divisional Championship.

No national points (ProSolo is a points series) but a divisional does qualify you to run Nationals (without paying the huge waiver fee).

Only Bridgestone and Toyo offer contingency prizes for Divisional events.
