Sunpower uses that one as a filter to automatically reject job applicants.

That doesn't seem fair.

I don't know about fair, but I think it's foolish. A very smart person could make a simple error calculating in their head and the automated system would instantly reject their application with no explanation why. It also makes them seem really snobby (especially in combination with the several blanks on the application that ask about class rank, grade point average, and so on).
