I'll answer for Greg, in the interest of expediency:
It's a Contour HD1080P that he borrowed from Ravid (running the burgundy Spec Miata). It's a "wearable" camera popular with the action sports guys. You can get a helmet mount and a goggle mount, in addition to the standard suction cup thingie.
4.3 oz., measures about 4 x 2 x 1.5 in. Website is http://www.vholdr.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think he digs it. Maybe Ravid will chime in later and post some vids from his car. He's got one run with a spin that might be interesting!

The Latest in a Long Line of Berrymobiles ... any car that Tom participates in, ie. Tom's ride for the upcoming Lemon's Race. He mentioned something about decent speed because it's been judiciously lightened.

Wasn't expecting it to be. I've seen it for as low as $250, though.Theo Osifeso wrote:I love the quality and size but it's not cheapLeonard Cachola wrote:I was looking at getting one of those - how does he like it?

There's a version that does 720p, it's $250 on Amazon. The 1080p one is $319 on Amazon. The cheaper one only does 30fps though, the more expensive one does 60fps.Theo Osifeso wrote: I was hoping it will be relatively cheapLink to the cheaper price if you come across it again. Thx.

Don't need 1080p, though. It's not like I'm going to ever look at this on large screen TV - plus, files for 1080 are HUGE.Jeff Stuart wrote:There's a version that does 720p, it's $250 on Amazon. 1080's finer detail means it's easier to see ahead in ones video. I want 1920!

more like its easier to see some cones that aren't centered in their boxes. Its like having Tom Berry eyes.Mako Koiwai wrote:1080's finer detail means it's easier to see ahead in ones video. I want 1920!

If you don't need HD, you can do what I'm doing and use something like http://cgi.ebay.com/Mini-Tiny-Portable- ... 4aa078fc99" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - yes it's a ripoff of a much nicer one, but I got mine for about $20 delivered (using my own micro-SD cards. . .
)
Here are mine from Runs 1, 2, 3 = http://www.flickr.com/photos/malsed/set ... 863378795/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
We started mid way through Run 1.
We got interrupted during Run 2 and my spotter had to leave quickly so I lost some of those.
Run 3 I was having memory card issues and turns out I was not in a great spot and was trying to do too much. . . won't do that again.
They're smaller (for now) - PM me if you like any and I can get you full-rez ones.

My best run on Sunday. I tried a different mounting position (sunroof) this time, but I'm gonna stick with the windshield mounting.

I have that Sony MC-1, great camera. Funny to see it mounted upside down. I guess you flip it in post? ;)

Leonard,
I like the camera. I decided to buy the ContourHD 1080p because I needed a camera that I can use for both my car and bike and is 1080p res.
Both my TV and computer monitor are 1080p. And watching the clips in 1080 on fullHD TV/monitor is impressive.
I convert my clips to 720p because of the file size (1GB per 15 minutes at 1080p quality) and also since about 75% of screens support 720p resolution but only 7% support 1080p (as of Jan 2010 http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_display.asp)
The camera itself is small, light and the video quality is very good. However, the camera was designed for use mainly powered by it's battery (2-3 hours - full charge), You can buy (and I did) a car charger and record while charging. But to connect the USB car charger you have to remove the back cover that has the power on/off button. So you have to power it on first, remove the cover and plug it or use a fingernail..... It is just because it was not designed for in car use.
Anyway here are a few videos shot with the camera on Youtube. Per Doug's request the spin clip will be uploaded in a few... Enjoy it, I did!

When I was researching cameras I rejected the Contour because the GoPro has much better sound recording capabilities ... and I hate wind noise in our AX'ing video's. The GoPro does a much better job of cutting out wind noise. I feel hearing the engine adds a lot of additional feedback.
The GoPro is not as sleek as the Contour ... but is also available with a helmet mount. Check out their different mounts and really hi-quality videos: http://www.goprocamera.com/index.php?ar ... oductid=30" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

btw. one of our AX brothers in Canada is a GoPro dealer if you have any questions: Brian L saleen880549 at shaw.ca
He keeps a C6 Z06 down here ... so he's in the area occasionally if you want him to bring anything down from up North.
