job leads?

Post by James Yom »

Hey CalClub,

I'm wondering if any of you know of anyone looking for someone to hire. The airline industry is still a long ways from recovering, and the United/Continental deal may not be good news for me. I'd like to return back to SoCal, so if anyone has any leads, please let me know. My previous work experience includes airline pilot, flight instructor, english teacher, and K-Mo's AMCI slave :) I miss racing, and if I have to stay in Korea any longer, I might have to buy a Hyundai and go wheel to wheel racing... please save me!

Genesis Coupe + Wheel to wheel Racing? Sounds more fun than dodging cones, you're dodging Koreans! Good luck with the job hunting.

First step, change your avatar and location, because right now I'm thinking I don't want you near an airplane :)

James,

I figure if you stay in Korea then I can build a true STR prepped S2000 with all the parts that you've ordered and sitting around the garage. I've got springs, nicely valved Konis and a spare set of Volk CE-28Ns.

Don't worry I'll pay for the parts from you before I install them. Should be fun. Might still get smoked by Henry's MX-5 though.....

Dood, are you gonna eat that?

I'll "borrow" his Konis... I knew I should've bought a set when they were available at the deal price. I was 40% of the way toward convincing myself to buy John Ward's Motons last week. Thankfully they were sold before I made it all the way!

This is soooo depressing. I finally buy parts for my S2000, only to not be able to use them...

So when are you gonna make the plunge to STR :)

Genesis Coupe! NO WAY! I'm not gonna buy a brand new car just to get it balled up by some of these clowns... Hyundai/Kia have a spec racing program with the Hyundai Click/Getz and the Kia Forte Koup. If I stay, I'm thinking about getting a used Click (they're like Honda Fits, except more underwhelming) for 5-6000 ready to race. I'd love to go with the Forte Koup, but I can't just throw away $18,000 if I ball it up, and these guys make Spec Miata drivers look like professionals... http://www.speedfestival.co.kr

My buddy finally got a job....
He created a national media sensation (and like 2500 twitter followers) surrounding his homelessness. He had like 1.8 million frequent flyer miles he converted to hotel points and lived in hotels. Along with his leased 335 Coupe and his $30K worth of ridiculously expensive wine....

The venture capitalists running a small internet startup saw the story on GMA and hired Jim as their CEO. Its risky, but its something... Pretty cool story. He's been on basically every news show and outlet over the past 6 months or so.

Jim has autocrossed with us before with his old MCoupe. He hasn't run his 335 because he couldn't afford the tires the past two years (he's using my hand-me-downs). If the start-up company survives long enough, maybe he'll be out again.

Hey Michael, do you have any background info on your brother, like what airline he worked at before and how much flight time he had? With all the Aloha and Midwest Airlines pilots with no company to work for, as well as the thousands of furloughed/laid off United/American/etc. pilots out there with many times more flight time than me, it's almost impossible for me to get a job there, so i was curious what his background was.

Looks like I'll be here in Korea for another year...
