Ryan has been very fast in a Spyder before.... I think the MSR is a better bet.

oh, I suggest the challenger drive the MSR.
Ryan gets to drive the crashed spyder with the crumpled front suspension and no view out the windshield.

While this match up isn't going to happen, what makes you so sure their talents are comparable? For instance, did they ever get off an airplane, arrive at a Solo race with no opportunity to walk course and then set top PAX in three runs? I'm of the opinion that people that consider Ryan just one of the top drivers simply don't know all the details of his solo career. He gives large handicaps to the field to make it interesting. Ryan has alien DNA.

Was anyone else two wheeling there way around El Toro last weekend? Great John Stimson Photo!
Deep into 3rd in the Showcase Sweeper, according to Tim A.

Ryan says that the problem with the TDI Cup is that so many on the racers don't mind trading paint (and body work repairs that THEY have to pay for) instead of just doing clean fast racing. Hopefully Ryan can afford enough repair costs to not shy away from doing what needs to be done.

What I see that's even more amazing then being up on two wheels, is he has the car almost, if not on, the bump stops. that pic is somewhat deceiving. there is a bump there that caused the inside wheels to lift.

I saw a few cars bounce at that bump and tried to get some shots of wheels in the air, but then I never saw it again?! I guess most of us didn't hit that bump. With Tim's soft suspension I'm surprised that Ryan bounced it up that far!

I only hit the bump once but we weren't on the bumpstops when we hit it. Bump or not, that car has the left-side suspension seriously compressed; run out of travel and the "spring" rates skyrocket. You should have. I stood out at that corner with Jeff while he was taking pictures and there were lots of people from HS, GS and CSP lifting inside fronts/rears although I don't know how many actually got up on 2 wheels.

it was as Marshall said though, you had to be ON that inside cone to really feel it. I thought riding the bump stops was an accepted CS Miata technique, which I never "got" since it's also my understanding that once you're on the bump stops you've run out of spring and will just slide. Supposedly the bump stop was suppose to still have SOME give = very high spring rate as opposed to no spring rate. When I was running SM, I replaced my virtually solid oem Tein bump stops for Koni and then Whiteline hard foam bump stops that did have some give. Tein themselves told me to replace their bump stop if I was actually racing with their product.

The NB bumpstops are foam, much like the Whiteline, maybe not as stiff. Bumpstops can be replaced with shocks in Stock. The NA has a bumpstop that goes from almost no spring rate to an effective 800-1,000 pounds in the back. None of the bumpstops pictured accurately describe the NB Miata bumpstop and the progressions it goes though.
