Sean Church doesn't have the software necessary to do an ECU tune with our a oem '99 Miata ecu. He does say something is to be gotten with a tune ... to take better advantage of our open'ish intake and exhaust. Since this car is just for fun runs at track days ... and the occasional AX (Camarillo coming up) we don't want to invest in after market engine management.
Any recommendation on who might be able to help us with a tune?

Re: OEM ECU, '99 Miata Tune ?
Track day next weekend. Would be nice to get a tune but looks like our obdII ECU doesn't lend itself to air/fuel management tuning. Spent something like $1K on the WRX aftermarket engine management ... don't want to do that with our Miata.
No such thing as a "chip?"

Mako,
As previosly mentioned, DPTune http://www.dptune.com/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is the only company I know of that has cracked the NB ecu. I believe they only offer a Flash service, but on the Miataforum they say that user programmable hardware is in the works.

Early dyno reasults on the '99 show similar gains to what I got on my 95- several Hp/Tq across the entire rev range and improved AF. http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=376726" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks Michael ... seems like that's pretty much the most up-2-date info. "How fast do you want to go ... how much money do you have"
Power on tap was so much easier with the Suby. Now wonder there are so many charging kits for the Miata.

This may sound silly but is there a possibility of using an Apexi AFC to tune it? May not provide quite the resolution you want but it could work no? Or would the Miata ECU counteract the changes?

FM started doing that for the NC ECU and they said that they are planning to do remapping on the NB ECUs too.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem

Heintz (I don't believe he cracked them, someone else did) has been reprogramming the NA 1.8's for some time... well that was until we discovered my late '95 has some issue with his program...Bob Beamesderfer wrote:Wonder if they'll crack the NA ECUs.Christos Adam wrote:FM started doing that for the NC ECU and they said that they are planning to do remapping on the NB ECUs too.
