Picked up a gently used Russ Wiles battery box for BMW E36 and Odyssey PC680 battery at a great price.

this works, too
Cool. Wow, even your stock battery weighs only 26lbs. MR2's are lightDoug Kott wrote:Nice, Theo! That's one of the slickest hold-downs I've seen, and that's a significant weight savings.
A while back, I bought a Deka ETX14 battery for about $60 online through Amazon.com.
The post conversion kit is from Braille, as is the hold-down (a glass-filled nylon piece that I cut down to the width of the battery). I put double-sided foam tape on the underside of the battery to keep it from sliding around on the tray.
Battery's about 11.5 lb., stocker's about 26, so the way I figure it, I can gain 15 lb. eating cheeseburgers and it'll be a wash!

Geez, are you sure someone didn't fill your rocker panels with lead shot when you weren't looking?Quoc-Viet Dang wrote:mr2's weigh just under 2200lbs?
jesus, I weighed my convertible when it was stock @ just over 3100... I think I've put more stuff on it than I've taken off since then, haha.
Lol. I've been waiting for thisMike Kazmierczak wrote:The car sure didn't feel 25lbs lighter when we were push starting it on Sunday. }:)
You are right Doug, the picture makes the battery look way bigger than it is. It is actually about half the size of my Odyse whcih I thought was super small.Doug Kott wrote:Yes, they're pretty light...surprisingly, even lighter than the 1st-gen MR2s, even though they're larger dimensionally. I weighed mine a while ago with a 1/4 tank of fuel, and it came in at 2170 lb.

I wish I had a better pic of my battery...I got in too close, and as a result the pic doesn't show its smallness!

Not close in stock class, but a very well-prepped '89 will be under 2000 in ST. Not WAY under though. I don't think my '91 can get there. Its very well-prepped and sits at 2023. It has 3-4 extra lbs in seats. Two aluminum strut bars add a couple of pounds. The front HF bar is like 2.5lbs. About 10 easy lbs to lose. But beyond that??? I have light wheels, light tires, light springs, aluminum-bodied threaded shocks, super lightweight exhaust, super lightweight battery. Not real sure how to get close to Andy Hollis and Tim Smith (the two lightest cars in the class). That's the difference between an 89 Japanese made civic Si and a 91 Canadian made civic Si.Jason Flores wrote:SHHH dont go spreading rumors!!Doug Kott wrote:.
