Bicycle racers, please explain rules, Tour De France

Post by Bob Pl »

I am reading the morning paper & it said that the yellow jersey guy lost his chain & another guy (who had passed him) kept going & everyone was upset at the passer because he did not stop & wait for the yellow jersey guy to fix his chain?

WTF?

Not a rule, it's part of the etiquette of racing straight up and not taking advantage of mechanical issues. OTOH, pushing and shoving during the sprint to the finish are OK.

It's archaic and only applies in stage races. You won't see that in criterions or track events.

If it was like soccer, one of Contrador's team-mates would have slipped his chain in front of the yellow jersey and pulled him down then complained to the refree that it wasn't his fault and got Schleck disqualified for running into the fallen rider...

Bob!

Wtf?! What are you doing?! Don't you realize:

A.). You are watching a bunch of foreigners, mostly FRENCH, racing in,

B.) FRANCE!

C.) The few Americans that ARE in the race are:
1.). Hop heads.
2.). Are wearing, for G*d's sake, tight fitting Spandex clothing with some
. kind of perverted child-molester crotch enhancement.

Stop now, Bob, before someone takes away your American citizenship!

There's photographic evidence that Bill was wearing something made of Lycra while competing.

In Bill's defense, he was wearing that clothing for a foreign country.

Um... No! But yes, kida sort of. They are US Citizens, but have some autonomy, and as such have there own entry into the Olympics.

Last I checked we still had 50 not 51 states. Yes they have one non voting chair in the House of Rep, their title though is not a Representative, or even Member of Congress, but a "Resident Commissioner".

As long as they don't want to play Lacrosse in Britain then all is good.

They are a Commonwealth of the United States - yes, the only one that is in the U.S, and not unlike what the Brits. have/had and are VERY MUCH a part of the U.S., Craig.
