Re: 8-15-10 Champ Videos/Photos
I've had a lot of people ask me about my one run in STX Sunday. A surprising amount, actually. Thought I should post here to avoid any misconception. There wasn't any hidden message or silent protest happening. Those who know me will vouch that I don't hide messages or protest silently. Sure, I like to be a little passive aggressive, but nothing of the sort was happening here.
So here is the simple deal:
While I had originally intended to 'compete', as the day progressed I became more and more mentally and physically exhausted. Thinking it over, I realized that I had a great event last week in SD and had a really good time on Saturday's practice, with me, Elliot and Derek all within tenths of each other. The course looked to favor Mihai's car, with a lot of short acceleration zones and slow turns. So, I figured, with a very distracted mind and a tired body, taking serious runs would likely only accomplish:
1. Getting beat by Mihai.
2. Screw up my current "I freakin' rock" mental state.
Looking at those options, I chose to enjoy the slaloms, focus on how the shaved version of my tire feels, maintain my confidence for Nationals and sleep well....
No, I'm not sure how Mihai lost with three clean runs....

If all of Mihai's runs were clean, there was obviously something going on with him, although he didn't seem ill?
It can't be "that simple" that ST cars can beat a National STX contender like Mihai and conversely perhaps you ... otherwise we'd see more of that type of Civic disorderly conduct at National events. Easier to win in STX then in ST? Looks like this year could be Seb's best chance in STX! Really looking forward to seeing all of you perform at Nationals.

Mihai had a 56.829 (only clean run of the 3) in X-runs, the Dirty Romanian was definitely back! Even then, he was a bit farther back from Nicole. I bet you, he was just out driven.Mako Koiwai wrote:If all of Mihai's runs were clean, there was obviously something going on with him, although he didn't seem ill?

This BS again? We already lost Matt and Angie from the class and possibly the region this year. I don't know or care what the motivation is, what I do know is that the effect blows.

Exactly, can't all the girls get a 'good job' for driving well and taking top 3 in STX? They are all good drivers, regardless of performance from the other drivers.Theo Osifeso wrote:This BS again? Theo - are you suggesting that Matt and Angie left the class/region because they occasionally got beat by girls driving Civics?Theo Osifeso wrote:This BS again? If that's the case, we might have a future mass exodus on our hands

Are you saying they left because of ST cars coming into STX or because of something else?Theo Osifeso wrote:This BS again? We already lost Matt and Angie from the class and possibly the region this year. I don't know or care what the motivation is, what I do know is that the effect blows.

Yes they can! Congratulations on an impressive win.
Now back to Spec civics in STX. Stop it! No need to be defensive, this is not about the awesome ladies, it's about the cars.

Re: 8-15-10 Champ Videos/Photos
Surely, your beef should be with the SCCA for allowing ST Civics to run in STX. Plenty of them are running STX at Nationals. How could CSCC ban them from running STX locally, given that situation.Theo Osifeso wrote:Yes they can! Congratulations on an impressive win.

Really? the only time there are complaints is when girls win the class.Theo Osifeso wrote:Yes they can! Congratulations on an impressive win.

We have 4 drops this year, and I've only seen ST civics in STX about 2 or 3 events this year. How exactly does it affect the class?
Nicole won STX once last year and everyone jumped ship to CST. I don't hear the CST guys complaining...

Re: 8-15-10 Champ Videos/Photos
Angie and Matt are no longer a Team ... but Angie is going to run our STR'ish Miata when she's back in town. What class does a STR Miata with a lighter flywheel fit into? Matt ... I think he's having too much fun doing Track Days ... he's been moving up the NASA HPDE groups.
Re: 8-15-10 Champ Videos/Photos
I can't say what their ultimate reason was. All I know is that we all realized that we can't prep our cars enough to match the spec civics while staying within the legal limitation for our big cars in STX.KJ Christopher wrote:Are you saying they left because of ST cars coming into STX or because of something else?Theo Osifeso wrote:This BS again? Re: 8-15-10 Champ Videos/Photos
CST ... you mean we'd have to go against Theo's STX car!?
... but we only have 118 hp!
(With the lighter flywheel it DOES feel like 121 hp!)

Theo, you know I love you dearly, but I'm failing to see your point here. You want to ban a certain type of car from a class because it's too fast. Ok, fair enough. Write to the SEB. You'll need evidence though I don't recall a Civic ever winning STX at Nationals (although I'm hoping it will happen this year for more personal reasons).Theo Osifeso wrote:

What's there to complain about in CST??? Unlike STX a CST car has very little limitation. I'll bring out a Viper or a Cobra if I have to

It's not a very complex thing to understand. STX has limitations that the ST civic are exploiting. Period.
Lily, please you know I got nothing but love for you, don't fall for the attempt to make this a personal thing. I'm totally cool with the ladies and will gladly have anyone of them teach me how to drive better
