New to forum, new to autocross, need suspension advice

Post by Tim Doran »

I have a 68 Porsche 912, looking to start racing it after I finish with the suspension. Next project is rear bushings, I have a set of rubber bushings that I was going to use, because at the time this was going to be a street daily driver, would polygraphite bushings be that much better? The car has no swaybars, first mod? Whats a good choice for shocks, was leaning towards koni street shocks, but... ?
Thanks, Tim

Tim,
The mods you make will determine what class you run in.

The 912 runs in the following classes:
Stock = HS
Street Touring = STS
Street Prepared = FSP

The aftermarket bushings and bars would not be legal for stock. You'd also have to run on stock-sized wheels.
STS and SP allow those mods, plus alot more.

There are certainly some capable Porsche drivers on here, too. Have you researched what class you want to be in? You need to be careful before making any mods as sometimes very simple things can bump you into a class you don't want to be in.

Hmmm, more food for thought.

Already have a big bore kit, webers, cam and exhaust, so stock is probably out of the question... :shock:

I guess more research is in order.
Thanks, Tim

Tim: we have a couple of Run What U Brung classes, basically anything that can still be licensed for the street. California Street Mod, is that class, running on DOT R tires. CST = same but with Street Tires w/ a minimum of 140 wear factor. There are some very specific tires to use. We can advise ...
