Mako Koiwai wrote:So Haines took care of the rear bearings ... $200, probably a bit much? Wish we could have given the money to Steve Lepper ... but Haines is conveniently close. Haine said that I should have just jumped on the breaker bar to get the locknut loose. But he said it came right off with his air tool. I think he must have used the same device to tighten the lug nuts ... I could hardly get them off afterwards! :(

Put on Speed Bleeders, that I got from Steve. All performance cars should come with them pre-installed! Made it soooo easy to bleed the brakes by myself.
+1 for Speedbleeders. Those plus a brake bleeder bottle like this one make it a lot cleaner and easier.

Suprised you didn't use the nut as an excuse to buy an air impact wrench. $200 sounds a little high but then you have factory service which can be qood. Plus if you have relations with the dealer it is good to send business there way from time to time.

See told you, you would like a speed bleeder. I don't do my own brakes anymore (if I can help it) but when you do it's a very nice thing to be able to do. The catch bottle is of course a must have.

Maybe now you can be lucky and not have to work on or spend money on the car until the start of next season.

A little late on the thread, but maybe someone can use the info. The worst nut I ever had to remove was on the flywheel of a rotary. 1/2" impact guns didn't phase it. I worked on it for hours.

Bottom line, I supplied the socket and size adapter and took it to a truck tire dealer. His 1" impact wrench never even got up to speed. It was so easy it was disgusting.
