Damaged 2006 Subaru Forester have value?
My parents just had an accident in their 2006 Forester (70k miles, autobox, no turbo) and its been declared a total loss. Damage is to the right front and right side, but no airbags went off. The impact was strong enough to crack the windshield, and the passenger front door is jammed shut. State Farm has declared it a loss, but it seems that there is a ton of great material left in this car. Is this worth parting out? Anyone interested in it? Mr. Berry?
Edit: its tan metallic outside, beige inside, perfect interior, steel wheels. Exciting stuff.

Here's a link to a photo.

It doesn't seem that bad. The tire you see is the spare- it had a flat. State Farm estimated $12k in repairs, and its located in Pasadena.

How is the suspension?
How much the insurance wants to buy it back?
It seems to me that with a couple of doors and fenders you can have it back on the road...
If I were you I would try to sell it on eBay as is... and not to part it out.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem

OT-Read your blog entry about the exotic car drive in Houston. I think that is the coolest thing ever that you invited the two kids to sit in the Ferrari!

I would buy a Ferrari to drive and to let kids sit in. And maybe not in that order- I don't know which is more fun.Steve Ekstrand wrote:OT-Read your blog entry about the exotic car drive in Houston. I think that is the coolest thing ever that you invited the two kids to sit in the Ferrari!

Suspension is fine, you see the spare tire because of a flat, but the wheel was fine also. I'm waiting to find out what State Farm wants for it. Rallycross anyone }:) ?Christos Adam wrote:How is the suspension?

I was 8yo when Richard Tharp invited me to sit in the Candies & Hughes Top Fuel dragster. It went on to win 5 races and the championship right after I sat in it.
Good karma.
And something I'll never forget!

Salvage value is $1700, but SF has already turned it over to the auction people.
